Please don't get me wrong, I was sympathetic to DTJ, I was suffering this kind of illness at the time (unrelated) and have suffered it many times before (low defenses)

It just blew out of proportion though, I wasn't '*assisted killing*' to be unkind or unsympathetic, it just seemed to have got out of hand and it seemed like a good idea at the time to stop it before it continued.

Sorry if it felt like I was being mean to both parties, it's difficult for both and I can understand the expression of concerns, it's awful to live with (the illness) and if someone was ill due to something I'd made then I'd be very embarassed if it was raised so publicly.

However, the concerns were raised, and apologies were issued, and yet it continued to escalate. If I was in the same position then I'd want the hurt to not continue and just get on with it quietly.

Sorry if I came across as rude but this was why I wanted the thread to stop. I know I oculd've just not visited it anymore, but I could still see it bumping to the top and it was upsetting.

Meant sincerely: I will butt out in future though, sorry if I annoyed anybody.

I think we'd all have a far happier time of it were we to spend a bit more time being sympathetic and positive. One does not have to be kind in order to be cruel, but I've often found that it helps.

Edited for crucial spelling errors (I'm sure there's more though, sorry)

Thread are like skirts. They should be long enough to cover the interesting details, but short enough to keep things interesting. :-*

DTJ likened eating a cookie that didn't agree with him to having a fucking car accident... you're damn right it got out of hand!

You were right the first time! Nnonononono I meant we were trying to kill the thread, and I was helping out (they all got deleted though) I don't know anybody who was involved in the accidents personally so I wouldn't even think of meaning that.

ETA -- and if anybody really wants to twist it as though I meant that, consult me in memo.

It was chilli poisoning, like I said more painful than a tooth abscess. OK, not quite child birth on the pain scale but pretty damn close. I've been in a reasonably serious car accident in the past and believe me it does shake you up, but overall it was nothing like the assault on the senses this was. Have you been through it yourself? No. Do you think I just had a bit of an upset stomach. Yes. Are you therefore talking complete rubbish? I'd answer in the affirmative again. Go through it yourself and you might have room to comment.

TBH my post on Saturday was meant to put people's minds at rest. If I am honest, more than three weeks later I am still not 100% well. I still have a dull pain in my lower back and other general discomfort has returned. Nothing serious, sort of like back pain but on the inside, but it's there. Possibly from the results of the blistering/bleeding of my lower intestines resulting from what happened, possibly a secondary bacterial infection, possibly the result of rushing my recovery and test eating that relatively mild curry at the weekend, who knows? I'll find out more after my doctor's appointment tomorrow.

That said, in my original post about the car accident, I did not compare the severity of what happened to me to the severity of the car accident. What I said was that the range of empathetically challenged people on this board might want to go over and goad them, since, by what I was asserting were their standards, these people were just attention whoring. I was not suggesting they were attention whoring by my standards you understand, but by what were apparently those of the empathetically challenged.

Now, since you are obviously talking about something you know nothing about and seem unable to understand what I have actually said, please shut up.

If you want to gather some evidence or actually know what happened, ask the barman at the pub about the guy who got ill and how well I looked at the time, ask the guy who treated the person who passed out or the people who passed in and out of the toilet whilst I was retching and expressing my obvious agony for the better part of two hours. Why not call the Manchester ambulance service to see whether they did actually call me back when I dropped my mobile phone from the pain and may well have passed out. Better still talk to DeBoesek, get her to tell me what was in the cookie, how much etc, then at least I can tell my doctor what actually happened.

Tell you what, I noticed the other day that Tescos sell Naga chillies (what I suspect was in the cookies, though I don't know, there are hotter chilli sauces). I can't guarantee the ones sold by Tescos are the real thing and not some watered down variety (the seeds of the real thing should blister your skin on contact) but why not go and buy 2 or 3 and eat them whole, on an empty stomach like I did. Notice how for about a minute you'll think 'these are nothing spacial what's the fuss' and then you'll begin to suffer. After that you might come close to being able to comment, though, unlike me, you'll have had fair warning about the likely effects.

Fuck me, are you still bleating on about this! So what, you have rectal bleeding!! Woohoo! Did you consider the possibility that you had gut problems prior to the eating of the cookie, which in turn set that off. Thus it was no one's fault.

Get a grip man!

Who mentioned 'fault'? Going back to the example of a car accident, even without 'fault' on anyone's part, does that make it any the less severe? If people feel guilty about it and don't like me bringing it up then that's another matter, but that's not my problem.

Have you ever considered you may be talking out of your ass? If other people would stop making ill informed and moronic comments I'd have no need to comment.

Funny how most seem on one hand say that 'chillis aren't that bad', suggesting they have no idea of the severity of what happened, and on the other hand I should have known what they seem unable to grasp whilst eating the cookies. Oxymoronic thinking.

Good grief, is this thread still going?

Moses was angry with the officers of the army..."Have you allowed all the women to live?" he asked them..."Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man." (Numbers 31:15-17)

Why may I be 'talking out of my arse' by offering a suggestion of why you reacted so badly to it? You pretty much said that there was no one there to say they were 'hot' therefore you were suggesting that someone was to blame for not telling you how hot they were.

You proved yourself to be a fool by likening it to a car crash, which in my opinion is complete crap! (pardon the pun) You got sick, end of. Like I say, there is the distinct possibility that you had problems before even eating the cookie, and the chilli's exacerbated then problems. I think you are narrow minded to not even consider that possibility.
