Well the garden of Shroom is wet and soggy....
However the sunflowers continue to bloom unabaited indeed many of the accessory blooms have come out now and the whole affect is a little ray of yellow against the grey and dripping sky.
Some people said last week that the big sunflower is facing the way he is because of the direction of the sun... Although this should be true I know for a fact it isn't... the sun comes into the garden from the other side. Big Sunflower is clearly some sort of a rebel...
The plant with the three shoots is going strong and is the only one which hasn't flowered yet. I'm kind of hoping the flowers will be reddish... but I will be just as happy if they're yellow.
My onions have sadly started to rot. The leaves have just formed a soggy green mass which doesn't get the chance to dry out. If the rain lets up for a bit I'm going to go outside and pull them all up before it's too late.
I also made the glad discovery this week that I do indeed have parsnips in the parsnip bucket
I had a friend round for dinner on Thursday who was entranced by the garden so I pulled up a carrot for him to take home and then decided that is was as good a time as any to pull up a parsnip to see what was going on at the other end.... Which proved to be a small but respectably sized off white root of about 5 inches long. I am waiting to find out what it tasted like.
I think I might pull up one myself to do some tasting on and then save the rest until October when the pheasant season starts again so M_L and I can enjoy a tasty pheasant and parsnip supper. Plus I am reliably informed that parsnips get sweetest after they've been through a frost.
Nothing much else to report... Triffid's fruit are still green as green can be. Not much has changed for the Dorset Naga, the Scotch Bonnets continue well, and the Aubergine has had something eating it... I think it might need some fruit friendly insectaside.

*At the news of parsnips, sev's ears prick up and he tries, somewhat unsuccessfully, not to look too perverted at the prospect*
The weekly account of Shroomy's garden has been read, my weekend is now complete This communication was brought to you from the desk of the Pontiff Elect, the benchmark by which purity, holiness & normality are measured.

You need to pull your onions sooner rather than later. Otherwise the rot will transfer to the bulb with the wet weather we have been having. Mine are drying nicely. All 400+ of them .Seems they like allotment living Off to harvest me apples and place into storage When the least they could do to you was everything, then the most they could do to you suddenly held no terror.

There was a break in the rain earlier this afternoon so I've pulled up all my onions, cut the rotting leaves off and dried them. Luckily they are all very cute and titchy so it wasn't too much hard work. They're now chilling out in the fridge waiting to be transformed into a stir fry or similar.
Sev... I am shocked and horrified at the lascivious virtual glances you are sending my parsnips way. They are sweet pure little roots and are NOT to be thought of as participants in your filthy games! Also since you're arse is used to being used by great big dildos they would be far too small to satisfy "It's not that I condone facism or any -ism for that that matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism. He should believe in himself"
