When the new pornography laws come into effect next year does this mean websites like the English Mansion will be illegal? |

Why would it? I don't know it and you haven't provided a link. The law only outlaws extreme porn. It has to show images that could endanger life or show harm to breasts, genitals or anus (but not eyes, legs, arms strangely) and be made for sexual pleasure. This type of porn is quite rare and it is only the "could" bit of the sentence that people object to. |

It appears the website is hosted outside England and Wales, and therfore will not be illegal.
It may however be illegal for you to posses images from that website. Simply viewing can result in possesion, see the various threads on computer privacy/security. Given a sufficiently anal jury or bench, the threat, harm, injury things can be very wide reaching indeed. Many people on here will have very different opinions of what constitutes safe and not likely to result in harm/injury from your average JP or jury sitter, hell we cant even agree amongst ourselves on whats safe a lot of the time
It's easy to tell the difference between right and wrong. What's hard is choosing the wrong that's more right.

The location of the website makes no difference as to whether a prosecution can occur. It is the location of the website owner which counts. Graham Waddon could give you information about how having an offshore website doesn't help you avoid the big house. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

I was working on the assumption that the OP was a viewer of the site, rather than the owner of the site. It's easy to tell the difference between right and wrong. What's hard is choosing the wrong that's more right.

In that case the location of the site also makes no difference. If it contains illegal content — and it will take a court case to decide what is illegal content — Mr_Sinister, being in Lincolnshire, could still be prosecuted for having images on his computer. Browsers make a local copy of images they download to save downloading them again if they are used in multiple places on a web site. If the content of The English Mansion is deemed illegal viewing it or owning it will leave you equally liable to a bust. Though the prosecution rate will be very low compared to the number of offenders. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it.

I agreed in my first post. As long as it is not the OPs website, it will not as such be illegal under UK law, however his accessing it may be. It's easy to tell the difference between right and wrong. What's hard is choosing the wrong that's more right.
