The surveys flawed - they say they didnt get enough results to get statistical significance and if Edinburgh being bottom wasn't proof enough.... Manchester was somehow second .... and cumbernauld (of all places) came 4th in the league of happiest places .... which is just ridiculous.

Edinburgh is just like any other city/tourist area. having lived in the Devon and London before Edinburgh there is little difference. That is it's fun for the tourists but for those who live there it's a burden on their every day lives. There a lot worse places to live. richgoldie1, wanting to learn

Thanks to the light railway they're putting in the middle of the street! Look at the "trams" in the transport museum and what Edinburgh are doing is nothing like them - they're doing a railway. Visited earlier this week and couldn't believe how many cones there were on Princess Street. Commented to my brother that any visitor to Edinburgh would leave with the impression that all Scotland has to offer is traffic cones. Edinburgh has one of the best bus systems around, just think what £700,000,000 could do to improve that further. And not just on one route. In fact, for that money they could provide taxis for everybody....

There is an old saying. "There are lies, dammed lies and statistics." Statistics only show what the people in charge of the survey want to be shown. For example if you go to almost any town or city and carry out the same survey out side the local town hall asking the town councillors if they are happy living in the town they will undoubtedly say, yes it's a wonderful place to live. If you carry out the same survey in the same town out side the local court or job centre you will no doubt get a very different point of view.
