A distressing story crossed my radar today, I don't know how relevant it is for the UK, but just in case (and to help build momentum for this campaign) I wanted to let ICers know (who I am sure include a lot of animal-lovers (No, not like that! Pervs!)

Apparently a company called Four Paws Inc. produce a rubber ball dog toy, that has a major design flaw that makes it potentially lethal, and certainly can cost a dog the use of its tongue. The full story is here: http://thechaistory.blogspot.com/

They explained that the same thing happened twice in one night with a smaller version of the same ball to their dog. Fortunately, they were able to pull it off before the tongue swelled, but not without tremendous effort and pain to the dog. They recalled how horrific it was to hear their dog screaming while they had to pry the ball from her tongue. It was so horrific they gave the ball back to the dog so it could happen again!!
