Just a thought, but the subject of placement of pads has come up. EMS machines are designed to 'crunch' muscles. Indeed you can buy belts designed for upper body use. So what's the big deal? Does anybody have substantiated evidence of death by EMS, or are we in 'urban myth' territory.

Thanks for all the replies, much useful information there.
As I understand it, the tens and ems units are different, and that the professional electroplay units are ems type rather than tens, although I'm not quite so sure on the inner workings of them. EMS units are more expensive and, I'm assuming here, give a more powerful output. It's this type of unit I'm looking at getting rather than the tens type. |

Try mail order from www.tenscare.co.uk check out adaptors there as well if you are in the south they work out of epsom in surrey been using one for about two years friend just spent £265 on a e-stim unit gotta say its good very very powerfull but but but if you dont have someone that is happy to tie or be tied and happy to let someone control the unit it can get boring great when you first start, novel game better than wanking in fact you push yourself to see how high you can stand the unbearable sensations Tenscare sort of same as boots four pads two channels you could try these placings stick one pad to well forget that send me an email address and I'll send vid. conductor7772000@yahoo.co.uk Bottom line buy one with pulse and width band cost you about £80 check online if you dont get bored on your own then spend loads more link it to cd and just let it run. |

what are the major differences? what makes it worth 8 times the price of the boots TENS machines?
I'm not being difficult, I am genuinely curious.

Well TENS units are built for soothing pain... not for what we want to use them for. When you buy an e-Stim, I guess you're paying for the research into which waveforms give the best/worst feelings. Also they have audio (e.g. voice) sensitive switching. |

In order to answer that you would need to define worth, and compare like for like. Other similar E-Stim units are on the market for £200+ depending on where you buy them.
Comparing TENS and E-Stim (and I'm not just talking about our units, but any made for play E-Stim units) is similar to comparing a push bike and a Ferarri. Both have wheels, both get you from A to B, but for some people the Ferarri has more style, panache etc and for them the additional cost is worth it. If you cannot afford the Ferarri, then the Ford Escort offers similar levels of functionality, but without the nice red colour.
On a technical size TENS units operate at frequencies, voltages and waveforms designed for pain relief, in other words they are designed to remove sensation. E-Stim is designed to enhance the sensation. Add in the additional levels of control (some TENS cut out after 15 minutes, at the end of 'treatment'),more power, decent sized connections for attachment of a wealth of additional electrodes and units designed for play, and you get the idea behind E-Stim design.
Should you buy a TENS unit? if you want to save money at first then it's an option, in the same way a lot of people buy their whips and handcuffs from Ann Summers for a bit of fun, but some people then find they don't offer enough and move towards the investment of quality equipment/clothing etc etc.

alternative electroplay devices, thoughts on this?
Hello all,
I've been reading up on electroplay and the various devices available for that. Buying most of the units from a fetish supplier seems to carry a very high markup when compared to buying from a medical supplies place.
Below is a few examples of electrodes that are sold in both a medical store and through an electroplay company on ebay (I'm not singling any one out, they all seem to charge similar prices). They appear to be absolutely identical except that the medical supply house charges between 50 & 75% less. The control boxes seem to have similar capabilities but again at very different prices.

Given that I'm an impoverished dom, would any of the more experienced electroplayers here care to offer advice on whether there's really a reason to pay the much higher prices for specifically fetish oriented equipment or whether the cheaper medical grade equipment available is equally suitable to the job. My feeling from reading through all the specs is that it is, but it's always helpful to have some extra advice.
Thanks,
J.

their English is crap but they are the manufacturers of some of this kit. Tell them you want to buy a sample and see what price they quote. I think you'll be amazed at the price.
