As a cylclist, I am well used to receiving abuse from motorists and I've had plenty of things thrown at me in my time. Last night however, I was somewhat shaken up when a beer bottle missed my head by about an inch. I had been riding slowly along the pavement (due to my somewhat wobbly state) and had in no way done anything to upset the car's occupants.
There are two things that disturb me a little. Firstly, what would have happened if I had been riding on the road as technically I should have been? Secondly, and this is what really freaked me out, is that there was absolutely no noise from the car. No shouts of 'wanker' and laughing as you'd expect. All I remember is the bottle shattering and then the car cruising past in silence. The occupants of the car seemed to gain no pleasure from lobbing a bottle at my head. It was as if it was just a routine thing to do.

I dunno - nothing that people do really surprises me these days. I was driving along, minding my own business one day, when a bloke in a white transit coming in the opposite direction lobbed a lit cigarette into my car. Bad aim, or a nutter? Who knows?
