By the way this archbishop reference in the OP is this to do with the church of england?

Because a large number of male bishops are moaning about the possibility of women being made bishops. Apparently some of the male bishops might walk out...maybe theyre scared of cooties....its like those exclusively male golf clubs...and the masons. A woman cant possibly play golf, womens dna does not allow this...we lack the chromosone that lets us swing a golf club, we can cook and sew though ;-)

This is what I love about religion, they tentatively support equal rights but only as long as a woman is not allowed to go above collection plate duties and maybe playing the organ...cos we are good with our hands. But only if we're using them for domestic duties.

Most of that was my arsy feminist type opinion but the article is in The Times July 1st; "Clergy plan mass exit over women bishops".

I found it quite funny....and think they should let the twats have their strop...my female dna is telling me to stop ranting. Must...start...embroidery...and... not... use... ribbons... for... needle... play

eta just checked archbishops of canterbury and york are referred to in regard to church of england....they just dont want to share their wanky hats and uniforms. Bloody hell all it takes is a bit of cardboard and some decent felt tip pens...and the silly dress thingy...birmingham rag market and a needle and thread.

Unfortunately the its not just the CoE that showing up its "male only" credentials, there's hell to play in the US over lady bishops. My sisiter was married by a woman vicar, she did a wonderful service and to be honest it was one of the best services I've ever ateended.

It's a like the "mwembers" bars at golf clubs etc etc, no-one should be prevented from joining any organisation unless its illegal; for them to do so irrespective of sex, race, creed or colour.

Thankfully I'm a Methodist, and we saw the sense in women Minsters and members of Synod (the leadership of the church) a long time ago...

Nothing surprises me with the News of the Screws, it's spent a 150 years making a living out of printing titilation, innuendo, smut and lies. Yet they claim to be trying to up hold morals. If you believed all of the rubbish they printed then there must be a paedo on every corner going to snatch your little girl, a rapist hiding in every bush. The bush is only a problem if you haven't managed to be stabbed by the gangs of marauding chavs in hoodies or you've not been mugged or sold drugs by illegal immigrants!

We looked at crime figures in the office after one of the clerks who is into graphs decided to collate 40 years worth of government statistics. Apart from a few blips in certain areas, the only crimes that have risen are basically drug related and sexual offences. Fraud has cases have remained the same pretty much, just the field of operation shifting, ABH/GBH pretty much the same, assaults with deadly weapons slight blip over the past few years etc.

Infact if nothing else, crime is dropping in general as detection of criminals improves. Unfortunately burgularies are still on the up, mainly due to the police seemingly almost giving up on detection, though locally to me they are very pro-active.

Unfortunately these days, our local rozzer has a couple of rain forests worth of paperwork to fill in if he so much as talks to someone. 95% is completely worthless, both Conservative and New Labour initivies generating a lovely carbon footprint!

So who do we believe, well certainly not the NoTW. When they decided to out paedio's a few years back they were outside Oxford nick and actually managed to print two photo's of screws just coming off duty and listed them as dangerous deviants! May be those two were into cell time play?

So now thw News of the Screws have rolled out a former archbishop, are they next going to claim that they are on a mission from God???

Well thats convinced me...god will show me the way. And god will of course stop my bitch cat from scratching me and scarring me, or at least show her how to make pretty patterns.

My rants have made me hungry so despite the fact that god apparently cant be associated with science (well apart from that new wierd thing... but its never a cult if you can fit the word "christian" in the title ;-))...im off to nuke my dinner.

>:o (I just think the angry face is really cute)

Defence? Mosley wasn't the one being accused in court. He may be a public figure, but he does not serve us.

(Still, I note that at least he focuses on the infidelity, rather than S&M.)

Section 63 criminalises "extreme" images of consenting adults - see http://www.backlash-uk.org.uk/ and http://www.seenoevil.org.uk/wiki/index.php/Main_... .

Truly sickening. No wonder people think most church leaders are out of touch. I wonder if he's ever actually read the NOTS?

This whole thing smacks of an editor scared of loosing his job and despiratly trying to wheel out some kind of defense to try and justify his position to his boss before he gets canned (which he may well be as Murdoch is apparently not given to handing over cheques for lible damages gracefully).

Thing that gets me though is how this is being treated as though Max is holding a public office. As was rightly pointed out earlier he holds an office that, though in the public eye, is basically head of a private club.

He said: “If a politician, a judge, a bishop or any public figure cannot keep their promises to a wife, husband, etc, how can they be trusted to honour pledges to their constituencies and people they serve?”

“This is a bleak, deeply-flawed 'anything goes' philosophy. It is also dangerous and socially undermining - devoid of the basic, decent moral standards that form the very fabric of our society.”'

Wow, NoWT getting on its moral high horse.

R

OK my 3 pfennigs worth....

This will be the same Archbishop then, who has to swear obedience to and accept as Head of his Church : the reigning monarch. Luckily for him he is retired, and does not have to face the prospect of consecrating the Prince of Wales as the next Monarch and Head of the CofE.

If this really is view on obedience to vows, then he should slam down the Crown, break the sceptre over his knee and tell the would-be King : you have been a naughty boy you cannot be King.

So he gets on his high horse against the rights of people to have private lives, whilst accepting blatant and public sins amongst those in authority?

So much for vows and marriage.

As for BDSM : he understands nothing about the Trust, the integrity, the depth of personal committment that flows deeply and richly from partners in this scene. We understand control, context, care : all of them critical issues. BDSM parents are very responsible parents ( at least the ones I have met, are).

It is certainly *not* contradictory to be a Christian and a BDSM player. Just because there is no BDSM Christian equivalent of the Lesbian & Gay BDSM movement does not mean that it is not there in the form of friendships, supporting partners and tolerant church-going fellowship groups.

Finally:

enlisting the highest levels of the church to condemn us, just does not sit well with the many known cases of paedophile abuse and assault. Our community goes out of its way to protect and support newcomers, especially female submissive newcomers. We are aware, precisely because of the nature of our lifestyle, what risks there are and we ensure our partners are consenting,self-aware and scene-aware adults. The scale of child abuse in the church is frightening to be honest.

Tack on the final insult of schism in a church because gay priests cannot tolerate the concept of women bishops. This loving church which condemns at least half of it's members just because of their sex, needs to check it's own position before moralising over the lives of anyone else.

Talisker.

P.S. Not checked the NotW yet..but I somehow bet that this old prelates words have not appeared in a sex-free,image-covered-up and "safe for the household" edition !

Thinking about this, I wonder if he also condems those people that every year let themselves be litterally nailed to a cross inorder to show their devotion tho Christ? I mean, you don't get much more BDSM than that..
