NoTW rolls out Ex Archbishop in its defense (57)
Sat 26 Jul 08, 5:54 PM Redhead777 CH, 7 mths |
'Writing in the News of the World Lord Carey, who was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002, claimed 'most people' would ridicule Mosley's defence.
He said: “If a politician, a judge, a bishop or any public figure cannot keep their promises to a wife, husband, etc, how can they be trusted to honour pledges to their constituencies and people they serve?”
“This is a bleak, deeply-flawed 'anything goes' philosophy. It is also dangerous and socially undermining - devoid of the basic, decent moral standards that form the very fabric of our society.”'

I wonder what the Bull buggering, baby eating Bishop of Bath and Wells and his ilk would have to say?
The moralising bastards of every religion should just FUCK OFF AND DIE!

Except -
1) Those fighting tyranny and oppression in dictatorships.
2) Those providing comfort to the bereaved and the lonely.
3) Those who condemn all forms of discrimination and oppression
4) Those ministering to the poor who otherwise would not have any support.
5) Those...
You get the idea anyway.
We should no more condemn all religious leaders than all religious leaders should condemn us.

One of the two candidates for the Presidency of the Liberal Democrats, Baroness Ros Scott, has come out firmly on the side of privacy.

For example South African Bishop Desmond Tutu. A very decent and humane man. But I do have to say that the attitude towards sex by most religions is very reactionary.

I specified Moralising
While there are good people in all religions. The institutions they represent can all be held to account for their failings. So they have no moral high ground from which to preach.

I was more interested in what Woman E has been saying to Sky News for £10,000, that there were no Nazi over tones to the scene and yet she swore in her statement as I think did her husband that there were. So she must have been lying either on Sky News or on the statement. Says she'd now like to apologise to MM, presumably because he's now about to start suing people for libel and no one caused him a greater problem than she did. |

Stating the blindingly obvious, but the said Archbishop appears to have conveniently overlooked one rather important fact: Mosley is/was not serving in public office. It happens to be a high profile position that garners publicity, but that isn't the same as "serving" public office.
