So the judgement has down on Max's side- I am so pleased. I think the judge was right to tick him off- he was laying himself open to blackmail- but just because the News of the World's readers were interested in Mr Moseley's private life, doesn't mean that it was in the public interest to expose it!
And excuse my ignorance here- but even if he had been shown to be playing Nazi games- I was under the impression that (although distasteful to me personally) it isn't illegal in the UK?
I'm afraid that I was shouting at the TV when the NOTW spokesman was on! Something about journalists being allowed freedom of expression- what makes them so sacrosanct? Surely Mr Moseley is allowed the same freedom too then? Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
And I also object to the news and newspapers running the story at prime time/ on the front page, when the kiddies are around. Perhaps it's cowardly of me- but I wouldn't want to explain BDSM to a ten year old! (Under tens rarely watch the news, lol!)
And there is always the sneaky suspicion that the NOTW picked on him because of some earlier disagreements (Can't remember what they were- sorry!) So individuals should live in fear of the mighty press? I don't think so and nor did the judge.

The sentiments expressed by the NOTW were the ultimate in sour grapes. When they disingenuously rambled on about the freedom of the press being eroded it seemed to me that what they really meant was that the prurience of the press was under threat. Another thing altogether and very welcome if you ask me. Ditto, pleased....but not so pleased that something that was no ones business but their own, was made public knowledge in the first place. It seems that anyone is fair game if its juicy enough for the general public to read over their cornflakes! There have been cases where the people haven't even been in the public eye but they've still wrote nonsense. I think he handled it with style and wish him luck! What am i? Flypaper for freaks? |
