Why do the Glasgow/Edinburgh people seem to take IC and the whole internet thing so serious?

They don't. You just notice the ones who do. The majority pay vague attention and spend their energies doing things which appeal to them.

The taking seriously by a few people isn't restricted to the Glasgow and Edinburgh board, it is the same in Manchester, London and Show Jumping boards, you just don't notice it because you don't read them.

Collectively the crowd is correct. Individually they are inaccurate.

I feel people sharing a community online, is a beautiful thing,

so why not take it seriously,

People on IC are expressing a part of themselves, that is very important to them

It's a website, nothing more. For some people it takes on all sorts of significance, almost always out of proportion to the reality. For some people Normality + Anonymity + Audience = Fuckwit Heaven.

Easy? You men have no idea what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, and jaw stress, and suction, and gag reflex, and all the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe through our noses. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothing!

While I agree that its a wide spread problem, I think it does have an effect. Speaking for myself here but reading the boards is a big turn off. It stops me dipping my feet back into the Glasgow scene. Everytime it looks like things are settling and moving on. Theres another spat and its back to square one. I wonder how many like me just find it a total turn off and give up any thoughts of going along to actual events?

You're not the only one. I moved back to Scotland nearly two years ago now, but was totally put off going out and about to clubs and munches by the vitriol that is spouted on these boards. I felt that I just didn't want to get involved with the sort of people who feel it's ok to write such bile about one another on here.

However, now I've been to a munch or two and a club or two and I can confirm that, of course, there are lots of lovely people out there, and there's a whole lotta fun to be had. I just wish there was more fun and flirting and less bitching on here.

Whatever you dream you can do begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now. Goethe

I find it quite sad you feel that way, as it is certainly a minority thing! Most people in the scene in Glasgow/Edinburgh are real decent lovely people to know.

I thinks its also a shame that you think it is just glasgow, when people involved in the problems are from all over scotland !

Hi, i didnt just say it was a Glasgow problem. Yes its a shame but my betting is its not just me that feels that way. yes the people i met where lovely and decent. Its what they say on here thats the turn off. The spite and nastiness that is put up without foundation ect. Its just sad the way a few spoil it

Yeah i know what you are saying, but a post about trying Edinburgh made it look more like it was about Glasgow and its not! In every walk of life you have people that stir, letting them Win is where its wrong...why should you or anyone else miss out on meeting some lovely people and having some real good nights/days because of a minority !
