I recently received an email from a newbie to the scene who wanted to explore his Dom tendencies but was unsure about how to proceed. Like I normally do, I questioned him about his kinks, whether he'd tried anything with a vanilla partner, how long he'd had an interest in BDSM, etc. It turned out that what he wanted was to be taught techniques for CP and how to use equipment, ideally by an experienced Dom or Dominatrix, with me as the test subject. I replied that he'd be better off finding a D/s couple who might be willing to help, and that going to a couple of parties might be a good place to start. It's not that I wouldn't want the money, but I worry that if I took on an inexperienced Dom I might "ruin" him for future subs! I don't have any objection to the scenario, but I don't know of anyone who does anything like that. I don't know of any dungeons that keep "house subs" for training purposes either. I suppose there isn't any call for it, or it would have happened by now. Am I wrong?

Send him my way if you wish, I work with male and female dom/mes and we have had people sit in on sessions to both watch and learn and also try things out. I don't advertise on here as I prefer to keep IC for enjoying myself and use other pro sites for my adverts but yes it does go on - at least in the West Mids!

Hmmm. Switch as training model? For all sorts of technigues, it really makes life easy if you can demonstrate something, then say 'have a go', and give meaningful feedback as they go along. Every now and then, you hit a really rich seam too, things kick off, can be big fun! Now go and tell an egg how to suck granny.

Works well in a CP environment, not so easy in a dungeon scene if you're already tied up n then find he can't use a flogger to save himself lol! Also some blokes don't like the sub showing them how to do things, they prefer a dom/me to watch then have a go themselves. Whatever they choose to do is fun, I love sharing knowledge and showing people new tricks, you just have to have a bit of patience and a warm smile to make them feel at ease!

Many newbies to the scene get it wrong when they define themselves as a sub or Dom. I would have suggested to him that even if he defines himself as a Dom, he should be prepared to try taking it too, if only to know how the other half lives. I personally thought I was sub until I tried it, and it was about a long way after the first encounter that it began to penetrate my mind that things worked better when I was Dom. Certainly, Miss Prim has interviewed many couples where he wanted to be teacher, she the pupil: but by the end of the day, they're happily doing it the other way around - because it worked better for both of them. Sometime vice-versa too. Thank you all. Very helpful. I just wouldn't feel comfortable trying to help anyone Dom, because a) they'd end up doing things just how I like them, and b) I get massive fits of the giggles when I'm in charge. Not power-mad villain giggles either. More like I-can't-believe-I'm-doing-this giggles, which kind of ruin the mood. Anyway, I've sent him off to munches with a view to going to a party or club night, to see what's what and to make sure in his mind that this is how he wants to proceed.
