Oh dear BBC, just what was that all about last night?
The weirdest TV programme. A mix of Time team- there was even a character who looked like Phil ("It's an Iron age settlement Tony")- Tomb Raider (Angelina Jolie copy runs the dig) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (large secret underground cavern beneath a dovecot!)
Himself and youngest broke into hoots of laughter when 'Angelina' and the villain were swinging from the ropes and fighting.
I have a horrid feeling that 'Angelina' is going to be looking for Excalibur. <sigh> Anyone else bored with the Arthurian legends? I can't think of another important sword off the top of my head.
Talking of heads, mine is starting to pound again, so I'm off for a lie down- skiving today as I have the ubiquitous mystery virus. Damn thing!

I gave up watching after about five minutes. Heaven alone knows what it was trying to be but as far as I was concerned all it achieved was irritation! We watched it knowing it probably wouldn't be much good but thinking it might be mildly entertaining. But the programme irritated me beyond belief and left me wanting to write a "Mrs Angry from Cheshire" letter to the Beeb, which I probably will. I for one am utterly sick of "politically correct" dramas which have to have a PC demographic cast.. in this case white man, black man, white woman, mixed race woman, not to mention loads of other cliches for the characters, e.g. brilliant woman who's a bitch with a "deep" past. And what we got instead of an entertaining archeological mystery, was a trite and totally transparent history and moral lesson about the historical atrocities that were committed by Christians against Muslims and the dangers of fundamental Christian religion, which the programme seemed to be saying could again, if not guarded against, result in a repeat of such atrocities. And just to hammer home the point, the spokesperson for the Muslims in the programme was a "really nice lad from Dudley" ! Talk about moralising and treating the viewing public like a load of imbeciles! And at the end, when they'd just burned the mad, fundamental Christian to death in the "massive secret underground cavern" they just went down the pub! From the trailer, it seems the next episode is about the black slave trade and a black man running for president in the USA and those who want to prevent him getting into office. Which leaves me to conclude that the producer of the series must be some sort of political lefty who is using the series to inform and lecture the white viewing public of their country's past failings in their treatment of other races and religions. Perrrlease!! Ooops sorry for ranting on your blog. Hope you're feeling much better soon. L x

Another cut'n'paste composite format sure fire winner load of crap. I assume a co-production hence the no offence given pc values. Sort of a light and fluffy version of waking the dead.

The Beeb is notoriously left wing and PC orientated. I'm glad I missed it, I'd have thrown summat through the telly screen. | |
