Something I've regularly used recently after discovering it is Cuticura Anti-Bacterial Gel which I regularly use (as well as washing my hands/nails ) after any form of digital insertion before "moving on"

Finger by finger (plenty of lube) index in first then middle and next, form a V and slide the little finger inside the V, then the thumb. More lube than push in - then form fist

If they are thin or sharp, or you just like them, it's easier to just wear gloves.
Vinyl are much "smoother" than latex for the purposes of fisting (as latex is a "grabby" material), and vinyl gloves also makes it easier to take for your first fisting experiences, as skin actually has a high friction quotient.
Gloves are good.
As is being fisted!
