went to the hospital this morning, finally got an appointment with the rheumatologist ...... he is 99% certain i have fibromyalgia, apparently everything that i've been moaning to the doctor about for the last few years are all symptoms, including the weeing and bladder pain.

i have had blood tests galore, (hormones, infection, etc)and urine tests, and nothing has shown up,other than i'm not menopausal lol and everything is normal...... but you know something isn't right when you constantly feel like you have been run over by a train.

so i've had another blood test today, for vitamin deficiencies, and thyroid problems, and a couple of others .......

and he's put me on amitriptyline, he reckons, that, combined with the duloxetine i'm already on, should help me sleep and hopefully take some of the pain away. he is also sending me for physio

i thought i'd feel better if i got some sort of diagnosis ..... but now after having read up on it, i don't know how to feel other than pee'd off and fed up and miserable.

anyone have it or know anyone with it, and have any advice please?

Lynda xx

I was diagnosed with Fibro about 5 yrs ago. I also have a Fab Domme friend here on IC that also has Fibro.

It's quite difficult to talk to people about your aches, pains and generally feeling like shit when they don't understand fibromyalgia. It's also good that you have a name for the way you were/are feeling and that your not going mad.

Just shout if you want to have a blether.

i would also suggest trying the nhs Expert Patient Programme - its run by nhs but delivered by people who have long term health conditions - it doesn't deal with individual illnesses but rather with the effects that any long term illness impacts on your life and how life impacts on your illness - so that you can control your condition instead of the condition controlling you

it only lasts for 6 a half day sessions delivered once a week. and boy have i seen some amazing changes in people

there is usually at least one or more people with fibromyalgia on most of the courses i have delivered - including my co tutor on my current course.

it can be a bugger of a condition so you have my sympathy

FM is a shit :( although i was happy to hear that i wasn't going mad, and the searing agony i'm in all the time has a reason, to find all you can do is "manage" it and not cure it really knocked me about.

Sounds like you have a supportive medical team, which is really really good, and hopefully the meds will help you :) get a supportive social network in place too, to help when you physically cannot do *anything*.

Sometimes diet changes can help with it, but as you've probably read - it's a syndrome not a specific illness, so it is a matter of trial and error to find what works *for you*

good luck hunny pie

...It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Happy to come over and do some work with you.

I might just have something that could be of help for you :-)

I have it :( I have had it since I was 9 and was diagnosed in February this year.

If you want a chat or any of the links to stuff I found give me a shout.

It's a horrible thing to live with and you have my sympathies. xx

They thought I had FM but it turned out to be Ceoliac desease.... gluten intolerance ... killed off my stomach and stopped me from absorbing nutrients... was in severe pain,,, always tied,,, stomach problems... and some others besides..

Took gluten out of my diet and pain went.... might be worth concidering.
