After a childhood of discovering how to discipline the mind in order to serve God I have still reached no solution. Therefore, I have looked at the question from different angles ranging from BDSM, paganism and meditation and what I think is needed is to take a tiny piece from every angle to include in serving God. In this essay I will examine how, and how not, we should be serving God.

Looking at the Bible, I see that he first wants us to obey his every word without question. Yes, this could be done but it needs extreme willpower. Who in our busy world is able to think of God 24 hours a day? I am very grateful for my life and for the opportunities he has given me, the talents which he bestowed but I am only human. What is his second order then? That we go about spreading the word of his gospel where people do not wish to hear it? That we are good and happy people, accepting of all faiths? Perhaps either of these is the case but I do not think so. I believe that the crying of the gospel from street corners and pushing it into the face of others does nothing but anger the Almighty. The second idea says a lot more in favour of it but I, for one, know how hard it is. It is beyond me to always listen to the twittering and moaning of others without feeling depressed in myself. It is an important duty of the disciplined Christian though.

I believe that we must first discipline our mind in order to feel happy and calm in ourselves. Once we are calm and in control of our feelings we are open to receive spiritual messages. It requires quite a bit of concentration to be in such a state but it is, for me, God's most important order. We need to take 5 deep breaths a day and find ourselves in a realm where the angels are touching us and God is whispering sweet words in our ear. He wants us to be happy as we are firstly his children. We need to open our minds to the astral worlds sometimes to find this happiness, to touch hands with God.

My travels in paganism led me towards spiritual healing and meditation. When I meditate I form a picture of the thing which I am thinking about in my mind and I feel I am there touching it. It can be a very relaxing experience or a very strenuous one. My first meditation was taught to me by a book by Dianne Cooper which introduced me to my guardian angel. After I had established how to contact them I became interested in using the sounds of nature to help me meditate. This too was useful, I listen a lot to music created by Solitudes that mixes animal sounds with classical music. It interfered slightly with the airwaves but I came out of it feeling more calm and accepting of the world and those around me. I do not doubt that if I had seen my aura after this experience it would have been a most beautiful colour.

Let us now look at meditation which stands very close to paganism. Through meditation I trained myself to lie in silence before sleeping and cleanse every thought from my mind. Then I would ask myself what God wanted to tell me tonight. Often he tells me that he loves me but sometimes his messages are that a certain thing I want will take time, or he would like a special job done for him by me. Whatever he says I understand that his word is law and I must listen to it carefully. If I feel it is beyond me then that is my time to reason with God and discuss how to make the job more feasible. Often he will agree to slightly adapt a task so that it can indeed be done.

Finally from BDSM I take submission and concentration. God wants us to submit to his every word. The good submissive does listen to every word of their Dom/Me but we do not always obey them to the letter. A submissive has a mind of its own, it is not by nature a robot. Yes, some submission can be done when they lose control of their own wants and belong entirely to their Master or Mistress. This is hard work though. It is easier to always question things, in fact I believe it is our human nature to question. We all have come from children who want more knowledge, trying to understand things about the world. Sometimes we are told not to ask though. God wants us to ask questions and to find things out.

In conclusion I would like to say that God wants us more than everything to be happy. First and foremost, we are his children and whatever we do wrong he loves us. I hope that I have inspired others to think on God the way I do because then I have been good.
