Ok, I promise this is not a fishing post but since putting on my profile that I am with someone I've not had a single memo. Not one! (Ok except one from a local friend saying congrats) I still want to make friends with people though and have sent a couple of memo's in response to someones blog or post to say "hi" or "I know how you feel" but then they are either read and not replied to or just a one word reply. I got very few memos when I put that I was seeing someone on my profile. I still received replies to ones I sent though. And, since removing the seeing someone bit the memo rate has increased again. | |

hi, Yeah I know what you mean, I don't tend to get very many memos. But the ones I do get on a regular basis from people I have come to know quite well on here. I have had plenty of one-liners or one word replies myself, and eventually you just give up sending out memos to people you know you are going to get that kind of response from. At the end of the day it's better to have a few people who you click with, share interests with and have fun talking to, than a bunch of people you never speak to or only get one word replies from. Well, that's how I see it anyway!

I wouldn't reply to a memo that literally just said 'Hi'. I'm not being sarcy, I'm sure that's not what you meant but some people do memo just that one word! I do always answer polite memos that actually say something and I have found that other people usually (not always) reply to mine. As you post more, people will notice you about and are likely to be more friendly. I don't memo a lot, most of what I need to say can be said on the boards anyway, but a discussion can sometimes touch on things that are relevant but a little personal for the boards. That accounts for about 90% of my use of the memo facility. Peace and love, through the power of pants! | |

Likewise I dont get memo's now I have on my profile im happily seeing someone.
However I see tis as a good thing as anyone interested in being friends would still write, and it weeds out the people who are looking for more "Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth." | |

People have tended to avoid me like the plague since i changed my profile to say i am Owned.. Which is a bit of a relief.. No trolls.. And the ones who do still approach me are more like cheap entertainment than anything else.. i must admit it hasn't stopped those i actually know sending memo's to me though.. i guess the reality of it is, most of the people on sites like this are looking for something more than just a friendship.. Sad really, but probably true. I am fairly new, I am guessing and hoping that it is partly because I am still fairly new that I don't get many memos...I not too bothered by it at this stage though... I am hoping when I finally do my advert, which I will do also when I am more well known, I will get replies etc... | |

I get a mixture... I do find I get the odd memo from folk I don't know showing an interest, but once I make it clear I am with someone ( even though that is more than obvious from my profile ) they give up. The ones who are interested in me as a individual, rather than as a potential partner, stay in touch and we exchange memos regularly. If you are willing to look at another person's behaviour towards you as a reflection of the state of their relationship with themselves rather than as a statement about your value as a person, then you will, over a period of time, cease to react to them |
