Casually perusing the IC events on Monday 2nd June, I spotted an entry for Ann and Roly's Daytime Kinky BDSM Party at Barking, 10.00-15.00 on Wednesday 4th June. How intriguing. And so in the time remaining I managed to make contact, complete a questionnaire and be supplied with the rules of the event and how to get there. Being keen I was first to arrive at 10 a.m. and was introduced to Ann and Roly and was shown around. Two downstairs rooms had various items of equipment from a cage and St Andrews Cross in one room to a structure with horizontal support bars in another. Upstairs were beds with restraints. Within seconds of arriving I was stroking two pussies. But when the cats moved away, I sat down for a chat until others arrived. How sad that 22 people said they were definitely coming and Ann had prepared food accordingly. But there were many “no-shows”. However we had a good group of people and we certainly did not starve. I was destined to be at the receiving end of Ann's style of domination several times. And indeed I helped out when she was in her submissive state later on upstairs. A couple (master and female sub) from out of town joined and contributed to "joint" experiences. One of our number was lucky, when blindfolded and restrained, to simultaneously receive the attentions of two ladies with CP implements while a third lady was embarked on a mission of giving pleasure … It was a fun, sociable day with a good group of people. It is an ideal place for newbies to watch and then experience BDSM for a first time. So if you are reading this and want to take the plunge, keep the first Wednesday of the month free. Ann and Roly also hold an equivalent Saturday evening party once a month as well. So do watch the IC events for details. On Wednesday 2nd July, why not head for Barking by day before heading for the Black Whip Club late afternoon and evening? Make it a day of it. I shall. Thank you, Ann and Roly, for making me so welcome. ShadowMind.

Such a glowing reference. So much so that some cynics might think it was penned by the club hosts! Any downsides to the event you'd care to share? Obligatory wanky Latin tagline: Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit

This review is very much in line with the OP's previous weblogs and reviews of other events.
Currently throroughly fed up with all the moaning.

I can assure you it's a genuine review, ShadowMind gave me the same glowing praise of the event chatting face to face at the last Putney munch.

Just sounded a bit like an advertisement to me! If people want their reviews to be believable, they need to contain some areas for improvement and perhaps the costs so others can assess value for money - £35 for single men I understand - but happy to be corrected. I was one of the few who turned up there last Wednesday. Ann and Roly were great hosts. I was able to enjoy my first ever CBT.

If I were being cynical (or should that be more cyncial than usual?) I might wonder whether: If a review doesn't say what you want it to say... Or if a review isn't written the way you think it should be written... You'll just diss it. Because you "know best". And the other person's opinion doesn't count. Such is the "twue way" of course. Never mind the facts if they don't suit. Were you actually there? And thus able to say that the review wasn't accurate? Being an extreme cynic I can't help wondering whether your post had anything to do with other events you might attend? I (and a lot of other people) know the OP and have spoken to him many times. I'd trust his judgment. But I'm sure as hell not certain about yours. FWIW. I have no connection with the event. Or any other event in the immediate area. £35 (IF this figure is correct) wouldn't strike me as massively expensive when you look at the three-figure sums charged by some pro CP events.
All cynicism, irony, sarcasm or whatever, is entirely a result of how you read wot I wrote Steve --

Having just scanned a couple of them, you're right. Apologies to the OP (and "Ann and Roly"). I guess it's worth checking a reviewers previous reviews to check if others seem equally saccharine coated. To Steve: I've never been to one of the events, nor do I have anything against it (or for it). I guess I have high expectations of reviews: some journalistic independence, integrity and balance. Far too much to hope for here! Obligatory wanky Latin tagline: Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit Edited 11 Jun 08, 10:49 PM by xjames

So presumably YOU will live up to those expectations in the future? And make sure that what you write displays some "balance"? I guess it's too much to hope that you might do the "integrity" thing next time. And check your facts first? Rather than just shooting your mouth off? But, as you say, it's far too much to hope for on here. Steve --

I always seek to live up to those expectations and am happy to apologise when I fall short (as evidenced by my post above). As for checking facts, I tend not to review every posters' previous posts so that I can put their comments into context. I take posts at face value and question them when, in my opinion, they don't appear to stack up or seem to give a one sided view. It's called debate. And provided we're mature about it, there's no harm (and hopefully some good) done. Thank you ShadowMind for the 'review'. This is an event i've spotted in the listings and been curious about. Your report is encouraging me to make enquires. This communication was brought to you from the desk of the Pontiff Elect, the benchmark by which purity, holiness & normality are measured.
Bless you. |
