Long lost friends

I've been a little quite on the boards and on the scene for a few weeks as life has become quite busy. But more importantly I have found a long lost friend whom I haven't seen for about 25 years. We lost touch as our lives made sweeping changes and I to another country at the time.
But through a little detective work on my part and a few clues I managed to make contact again.
Last Sunday after I packed up from exhibiting at LAM I went to meet her. There were no butterflies or expectations and I was calm for it wasn't a romantic meet but a social catch up. It was tinged with excitement and wonder, as this person is a truly remarkable person.
It was like picking up where we left off and not as has happened when meeting people for quite some time, pass through idle chitchat and small talk. This was real and with depth not a surface conversation about mundane matters either.
For what this woman has gone through and what she has achieved personally in her life she possesses a true spiritual of human generosity and sincerity. Her two children are a testament to the amazing capacity for love too.
She is a remarkable human being with the capacity for so much warmth, compassion and humanity and meeting with her once again was a truly uplifting experience.
I'm not taking road to Damascus here but a calm presence that comes from someone whose aura or soul is so genuine and 'pure' that you cannot be affected by it.
I have a tremendous respect for her, as she is an icon in her own right as well in many other spheres of life. But what is so sad is that all too few people are like this and it is truly a shame that there are not many, many more like her to perhaps ease the ills of the world we now live in.
