I "came across" these by chance on a yahoo search. It's creepy to think everything we ever do online is watched and recorded for ever.

| We have sparse data about informedconsent.co.uk, so these are rough estimates. |
Not sure what they use the data for mind Better to be a diamond with a flaw then a pebble with none

It looks like it is aimed at advertises from the type of information being gathered. I would suggestion that admin might even want to help them gather more accurate information to encourage the right advertising interests. Ad Quod Damnum

Well, there you go. Everything you wanted to know about the average american that uses IC. I hope the statistics aren't the same for the rest of the world audience.
For those that care, an average twenty three thousand unique americans access IC but only 15% are regulars. I think the other pie chart says that this make up 27% of the total IC traffic.
There are twice as many american males as females in this population. There are significantly lower numbers of 3-11 and 12-17 age groups represented than the internet average (thankfully). We get an average audience of americans aged 18-34 and about 25% more in the older categories.
By income we get slightly more $0-30000 that average, about 15% below average for $30-60,000, about 10% above average $60-100,000 and about average $10,000 and above.
Ethnicity is just over average for caucasians, seriously below average for other ethnic origins except for other where we get about double the average (anyone want to guess what that means?).
Head of household education is above average for college and degree but below average for no college (so why do they all seem so thick?)
And lastly, slightly above average for households with no children and over 25% under average for households with children.
Make of that what you will, lol. Ad Quod Damnum

Yes, I'd agree with that ...
Not sure where they get the stats relating to household income from though ... it's not something that we're asked for on IC and I decline to answer or give a ludicrously false answer to such questions anyway.

I would guess they are monitoring access by IP address or something like that (thank god we have a data protection act) and tracing that back to a household. They will either have information on the household or demographic information on the area.
I had a very frustrating meeting with an American last week who couldn't understand why his software wouldn't be allowed to do some of the things he said it could do in this country because it wasn't allowed, lol. Ad Quod Damnum

Hey, my site is on there!!! Scary, I get 3,500 unique Americans per month, demographics and everything, but they haven't yet classified my site.

I can't believe the "other" column in the Ethnicity graph, how many eskimo's must be reading this! |

But how do they go from an IP address to the corresponding income figure and number of kids behind the couch? Don't most providers assign dynamic IP addresses anywhere? I mean I can see how they conclude that BDSM is a geriatric interest from the overlap in useres they get on the FriendFiender-owned sites.
But how can they know how hard we spank? Interesting, we're more educated but a little less kinky than the average population... |
