Well done all of you! I could be flippant here and ask Lit and Fen when they are getting their Batman and Robin suits but the reality of the situation precludes such joviality. So a hearfelt well done will have to suffice and I know she will be well cared for where she is. Well done guys and gals, well done! xxx I'm in my own world. It's Ok, they know me here.

A subbie safety net is something we want to try and do, we have been thinking about this for a while, but it would also include a safe haven where they can come along for a while to get themselves sorted out. This is a lesson to a lot of newbies out there. The girl we rescued tonight, had only been speaking to this person for a couple of days, he told her he was younger than he was, showed her a picture that obviously wasn't him, and spoke in a whisper on the phone to her so she didn't guess his accent, plus i think to hide the fact he was married. He told her she could come and stay with him, when she met him at the station she walked past him not realizing this was the guy as he was totally different, but again naivety she gave him the benefit of the doubt. Where as most of us wouldn't meet someone after just two days of chatting, and alarm bells would ring straight away if he didn't look like himself in the picture he sent. We would immediately walk away, she didn't, she went along with him but then realised he wasn't what he said he was and managed to send us a text. We didn't know she was meeting anyone today, so it came as a surprise to get the text, but I immediately called her back to see what the problem was, and we knew we had to get her out of the situation and fast. Even as we were trying to get her out she took him up on the offer of a drive to the train station, but instead of dropping her off where we said he started to take her somewhere else, until another phone call from me, and we got her safety in Litany strong arms until we could reach her. What scares me is that she could have met him anywhere in the country as she came down from Liverpool to meet this guy, if we couldn't have got to her as we did, I'm not sure what would of happened. I know that we have some good contacts around the country and I'm sure most would have helped out should she have been in your neck of the woods until we could get her down here. She told her family she had a job working away so they were not expecting her back for 12 weeks. No one knew where she was, and that is the bit that scares me the most, anything could of happened to her and no one would have rang the alarm bells for 12 weeks.

Well done Fen and Litany. Great to see the safe call system working so well. And a big well done to whipkicks and whipkicks mai for being there and arranging the safe call set up for this youg lady in the first place. With out you presents of mind, Fen and Litany would never have been able to help. Reb |
