A question for you all. There is obviously a degree of bigotry and "ism" in a percentage of the population. I've encountered several forms of it in my lifetime, and I know that in London I feel safest from most of it. Despite the fact that some of the vilest "ism" based acts have occurred there to me and people I have known. I'm aware that the nature of bias changes as you move through the country, and through people in general as to their degree of education and awareness of things outside of their own tiny fishbowls. But which is the greatest factor in determining how positively or negatively someone responds to kink, colour, gender, persuasion, political beliefs and other "ism" targets? Is it someones Age, their Sex, or their Location? Are the older people more biased than the younger, or more open-minded? Are women more or less biased than men? Is a rural community or an urban community more likely to live and let live?

depends on your experience example; i am sure this is elitist but i reckon hat young people who hav had university experience are usually mre open-minded... but of course people ho have grown up areusually more mellow and open minded... er... i reckon itsmore about your life ather than anything else Rose rose with a rose... In my experience it's a somewhat mixed bag, I am young (ish anyway lol) and am eager to explore and try to retain an open mind - but I know at University and College there were many who ridiculed BDSM. I guess it depends on how you grew up as to how open minded you are to another.
Hard to say, though from my experience men would be more willing to be publicly biased for bravado to their mates, but it certainly doesn't apply to all, and I may only think this because in the past I spent more time in the company of men than women.
To my mind you're more likely to find trouble in an urban setting than a rural, simply because of the number of communities there. Not so much a fact of you live here so there will be trouble, but more that there is such a diverse set of communities in cities that you are more likely to run into one that opposes your view. It's an interesting point about rural and urban points of view. Having spent most of my time in and around the country, i'd say that rural folk are split half and half between good natured and likely to laugh for a moment and say "each to their own" to the witchhunters, at the other end of the spectrum. My experience of urban life is that people are faster to judge, and too much in a hurry to put you in a box. Nevertheless, urban settings breed pervs and weirdos, so acceptance is also more forthcoming. I don't even know if that makes sense or not. Dani. | |||

In my opinion it is more perhaps to do with age, although I do know of a few people of the older generation who are fairly open minded, the majority of these having lived/worked in London or the larger cities as actors/performers where sexuality was more openly discussed. As for location, personally I would feel more at ease discussing my interests with people from a large town or city rather than a small rural village, where everyone knows everyones business and gossip and scandal spreads like wildfire. I love the chastity now that it flows between us. It is like fresh water and rain. How can men want wearisomely to philander." "I love chastity now, because it is the peace that comes of fucking."
