Rock Band (12)

Now, usually I'm one for a title that isn't always obvious. Something I find personally catchy in some way, something that might tickle a fancy, something that might even be a bit of an in-joke.
Not today.
Today, the title is the name of a game. A game which features three instruments that look only slightly better than Fisher Price toys, a nice selection of music from the last 40 or so years, and the ability to play along with them.
It doesn't sound much really, and if anything might even be described as 'sad' by most.
Well, most would be wrong.
It's quite possibly the best thing in the world, ever. I can't wait to get another few people round for the fun to really commence

I spent a good long time looking at Rock Band on Monday, credit card in hand.
But I'm going to try and wait until I've moved house. |

Oh God, oh God, oh God, oh God - I want it. I really want it.
ETA: I even played GH3 this morning to try and forget that I didn't have Rock Band, but I didn't enjoy it because it wasn't Rock Band I wear my heart on my sleeve and my pants on my head

Sadly that alluring £99 doesn't actually include the game itself; that's sold seperately. It's a bit of a ripoff considering how much it sold for in the US, but that's not really a new experience!
Worth it though, I will say that! When a man loves a woman it should be understood,
He would jump into fire if she thought he should.

If I said anything, it would feel like I was taunting you somehow.
It's really awesome, and the drums especially are so much fun, if a lot harder than they actually look. The soundtrack is better imo, and you can even name your own people, so comedy names are possible
On the bright side though, you can use the GH3 guitar with it, so when you play in full band mode you can pick someone who's shit at the game with no rhythm at all to play bass When a man loves a woman it should be understood,
He would jump into fire if she thought he should.

Anyway, I was hoping to hold off and get Guitar Hero: World Tour later in the year, but the price was announced today, and bodes awfully - $190!

I think the only thing to hope is that you can use the instruments from one in the other, but from looking at the drums for GH4 that may not be the case unfortunately... When a man loves a woman it should be understood,

I know a lovely man who has it, and he's shit, so hopefully I'll get to play on it within the fortnight.
If I don't, I may cry.
I keep getting taunting texts about various tracks, various features, and the general fact that he has it and I don't.

WTF? Look only slightly better than fischer-price toys? The guitar looks amazing, and how could the mic look any more like a microphone when it IS a real microphone? And how does it 'not sound like much'? It clearly sounds like the greatest game ever conceived, especially to anyone who has ever played Guitar Hero.
Also, PS3 owners, your guitar hero guitars DON'T work with Rock Band. Serves you right for buying the wrong console though.
It is definitly worth the money, even if you have to sell all your posessions to get it. It is probably the best game ever, and definitly the best party game. |

Ha! Bizarrely, I know what you're all talking about it. I saw this reviewed on the sort of television programme we would never in a million years watch normally, only I saw a trailer and my little eyes lit up at the idea, so we saw it for a treat. It was like Top Gear, only for... stuff. Things which have in common only that they run on electricity - we look forward to the review of vibrators.
But anyway, they did this game on it. The review was done as a laugh, so you couldn't tell much from it. I'm in two minds. I did look great fun. But even if it's reduced to 99 pounds, how much does a second-hand guitar and amp cost? |

Aha. So more like like air-guitar then, only with sound effects.
I have huge reservations but I think I'd sound like somebody complaining about steam trains... |
