There is another problem where people import films. I have a multi-region DVD player and get films from www.playusa.com. Releases in the USA/Canada are usually slightly different from the UK versions and therefore could be considered to be different films - and hence not have the BBFC certificate.

I strongly doubt if this would ever be used by the police, but it serves to highlight (again) the lack of thought that went into this law.

I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating, the BBFC has just given an R18 Classification to a film called "Girls with Guns" which shows women "forcing" men to have sex whilst being threatened with firearms.

This, of course, *WILL NOT* be illegal, even though it's clearly "for sexual arousal" since it is an "excluded image" because it isn't "an extract from a classified work" it is the whole classified work!

I'm tempted to write to the MoJ and get them to confirm this, just to see if they realise how stupid the situation they've been put in is.

The problem we have is that if it's on DVD, CD or VHS it's not affected by the new CIJB, its only images viewed on a pc. There are scenes from the film Walk About which are completely legal to be viewed on any of the above formats, but if you had still or clips of some scenes on the film on your computers hard drive you would be prosecuted under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 as they are classified as 4 or 5 on the scale the authorities use to determine the degree of seriousness of the offence! That absurdity is being extended with the CJOB 2008, and more worryingly, its being linked to the SOA 2003!

You're allowed to comment on any thread you want, and tell me I'm a complete berk if you believe it to be true. Whether you share a view with me or not, I'll be the first person to stand up for your rights to say what you think.

If anyone gives you grief for expressing a genuinely held belief you have an ally in me - and if you feel I have given you grief then I assure you it was unintentional.

FEMALE, BONDAGE-FRIENDLY MODEL SOUGHT. I am seeking to update my "How To" shibari bondage pictures (see my profile pics, the clothed blonde tied in red and black) with a model more "enthusiastic" about BDSM, and who is happy to be photographed nude. MEMO ME if this is you.

Oh no, it was the OP who told me off yesterday - this thread is apparently a bit of fun about pervy films, not about the new law at all.

As it happens, on this particular matter, I think thee and me are in full agreement - it is utterly ridiculous and not a little worrying that a snippet of a film on your hard drive could criminalise you when the whole thing inside a DVD box is fine to own. My reaction to the OP was because I thought she was being serious, about them banning the film, and I was pointing out that that's not true - now she's edited the OP to indicate she's merely gathering wank material for her private collection, I realise my posts were not necessary here :-)

Again, another post that proves we need a tongue-in-cheek icon Admin!

LOL!

I can't remember the name of the film, but there is a graphic "Drunk-Cowboy-rapes-girl-over-a-pinball-machine" scene right at the start... "The Witness" maybe? I've not watched it, it touched massive emotional rawness I wasn't able to face when it came out.

Also, the child "rape&disposal" scene at the start of "Time to Kill"

Love... The kind you wipe up with a mop and bucket.

Mmmm

I wonder..........

If everyone had these films, the full BBFC legal versions

And then copied just the good bits to a DVD just for the purposes of one handed watching...Ehem:-)

When you are nicked and taken to court for posessing the snippets on DVD and you bring out the full versions too, that would be jolly difficult for the prosecution to get a conviction with a jury when the exact same images are legal in your right hand but illegal in your left if you happen to be wanking with your right while you watch them:-p

Just a thought:-)

It had Jodie Foster in it I think......can't recall the title though. Sorry. Kelly McGuillis (her from 'Witness' with Harrison Ford in it) was her attorney. I think it might have been called the verdict...
