Waiting for the dog warden (4)

blonde's profile

Posted by blonde on Mon 12 May 08, 10:05 AM to blonde's blog.

We found a pooch last week, on it's own, no apparent owner. He's dead cute :-D looks like a staffy cross.

We took him in hoping we may be able to find someone to take him, but up to press no takers :(

He's a lovely pooch, has learnt to sit when he is getting a chew (or other treats).

We can't keep him, our two are 8 & 9yrs and can't be putting up with a youthful pup :(, plus we work full time.

He needs someone who can work with him and be with him. He's loving and soppy.

He can take his blanket and ball and some chews with him....

It's not easy, but it's the best thing for him in the long run. We've got the number of the kennels they are taking him to, so we can phone and see how he's doing.

Soft? Yes, I am when it comes to animals :)

So, here I am, waiting.........

I ended up with a dog last year (my neighbours had dumped him on me and never came back). He was the most loving and beautiful dog i have ever seen but there was no way i could keep him. After a week of trying to find him a home i called the dog wardens. I was devastated as i had grown to really love the dog but i know i did the right thing and that Birmingham kennels would find him the loving home that he needed.

Never knock on Death's door; ring the doorbell and run (he hates that).

Hi Praes_girl, thanks for that, I wish all dogs could be re-homed.

I've read (since the dog warden picked him up) that the kennels where he has gone put them to sleep if not claimed in 7 days and they don't feel they can be re-homed.

We've spoken to a woman at the kennels, who took an instant dislike to him, so we think that he won't stand much of a chance to get on the "re-housing" list.

We've to ring on Wednesday to see if she has changed her mind.

Looks like we might have to take him after all, as I don't agree with putting down animals for no reason.

Fingers crossed.
