GOOD GOD! The most pain ever! And then not being too confident about telling people and so when they hug you it hurts! Looks bloody sexy tho, but seriously does take a good 6 months to a year to heal. Also have them BOTH done at once or you'll never go back * Honesty is the best policy *

really?!? I have 3mm balls on them, although I did have 4 and 5mm beforehand - they never showed (my nipples are tiny too). Maybe it's just my bra or my soft flesh that they never show lol ------------------------------------------- This is the Island of Zombie Women

Be careful with stainless steel! Of the materials used, stainless is possibly the worst as it contains nickel, which some people re-act to. Recently the law was changed because of this and you cannot use stainless steel for initial jewelry (though some companies do sell extremely low nickel and can be used) Go for Titanium or PTFE. Best aftercare is just to soak the piercing in a solution on 1/4 teaspoon salt to half a pint of boiling water. Very soothing and helps draw everything out. Hope that helps Lee

I don't know what experiences other women have, but as far as the piercing went, my two nipples were completely different! One went through very smoothly and not unpleasantly at all, but the other hit some duct tissue and 'stuck' - had to be pushed quite hard and was surprisingly painful! You may or may not wish to know that it can complicate breastfeeding as scar tissue can form, but that doesn't always happen (didn't for me - I had a sprinkler system!-but did for my friend).

Um - I didn't suggest Stainless steel, but an alloy known as 316SS, a type of *surgical* steel used to make medical implements, which provokes no reaction in very nearly 100% of healthy human beings. Don't misquote me please. Whilst we're at it, I wouldn't suggest that boiling water is the best way to treat a fresh piercing, either. Edited for tpoys

mine had to come out after about 26 months, when i suddenly had three holes in one, SN has now redone them after about 13 months of letting them heal up completely. hopefully they wont migrate again. myri{SirNeedles} innocent sweet little kitten

316ss is standard stainless steel, i sell that material every day. depends how much of what other metals is in it. no idea what exactly surgical steel got less of. i had my first bars out of implatanium, that i bought from wildcat, it was suggested that it had far less nickel than surgical steel, now i just got normal surgical steel and i got no problems with them. only thing is that my bars are about 20mm long P.S. PTFE is Teflon, synthetic myri{SirNeedles} innocent sweet little kitten Edited 26 Jun 08, 8:01 PM by myri_SN

Must have got mine done about ten years ago now, at a place called MetalMorphosis in London. Hurt like hell at first and I had a few problems with healing, cos despite frequent cleaning they did get crusty and irritate the skin. One particularly nasty infection I cleared up with a honey poultice left on for a few days, but tea tree would work just as well. Had to leave them in for about 9 months before I dared remove them. I've only got one in these days as the other rejected and I never fancied having it done again.

im meant to be getting mine done next week so this threads proving rather useful indeed, thing is im a guy with quite small nipples hehe. ive heard they kinda grow after piercing if youre a guy, which is good. just hoping the piercer i go to knows what theyre doing and i can get the right size for me. not looking forward to catching them or whatnot, but the sensitivity? ah, yes, looking forward to that :D anyone recommend any good piercers in the preston area?

I stand corrected. My piercings have been in for 13 years, and I haven't had an issue, so my memory was at fault. The point being - surgical = hypo allergenic, along with the other "good" metals listed by others.
