The Kink Community

Does it exist?

Yes and it is a Buckyball, composed of discrete carbon atoms, each one directly linked to a few others but indirectly to possibly hundreds more in close proximity. Each atom gains strength and stability from being part of the structure. The view of any given atom is different to that of any other, similar to that of adjacent atoms and and it feels part of a tangible whole. Extending the metaphor, different areas of the surface may map to individuals who's primary interest is a particular fetish or activity, shading to other interests as you move in a particular direction. This model excludes unlimited permutations of kink and may need to be eventually extended to one of "nano onions" where one structure sits inside another or perhaps several structures sit within an outer wrapper of sexual orientation.

Given time, energy and a brain less stodgy than mine is today this physical representation of the kink community could be developed and refined. But in reality, who gives a ****. The point is, there is no commonality of view for an atom on one side of a buckyball with that on another.

Watching the drama on IC over the last few days has been amusing and as expected the backlash, lol how droll, is beginning. Fetishists, ageplayers, bondage fans, private couples who shop in Anne Summers etc have no more to fear from this than many nillas who surf dodgy porn sites vicariously living their fantasy sex lives on-line. Consequently they do not think this concerns them.

Interestingly for me as the days passed the precise reason for the protest seem to blur. First the focus was the CJB because it was "against us perverts" and then it became a fight to retain civil liberties. How strange that only when it was raining on peoples parades did they start to complain. Where have all the rights campaigners been over the last few years as personal freedoms have been eroded or removed? Now finally it seems to have become an exercise in raging at the machine because it will not give them the candy they want.

All the necessary comments and guidance for gaining wider approval from the scene have been offered in the numerous threads on IC over the last week. Those interested in actively campaigning to change the legislative or societal view of our lifestyle should take time to take them on board.

  • Know who you represent and be able to prove that support
  • Have a clear mandate from those people to achieve stated objectives
  • Have a strategy for doing this and then communicate it
  • Publicly learn from your mistakes

In twenty years time I hope those who, rage against the machine now, will be seen as the catalyst of a change that makes the UK finally a comfortably kinky country. Good luck to you.
