Can I make a suggestion for any future incidents, god forbid there are any.
Cut and paste the article, and set it up as a weblog so that people don't need to check the NoTW website but can still give informed comments on the story. If it's there as a weblog it can be deleted when it has served it's purpose and anyone to whom the article has caused distress does not have to read it while reading the rest of the inevitable thread.

What has happened is unpleasent for her and l hope that it is as quickly forgotten and that she can resume teaching again, and get on with her life in peace.
But we are all aware that certain jobs will give great scandalous headlines and until the attitude towards the scene changes then its only prudent to keep a low profile if you don't want to be outed...
As for more privacy laws have to say this is a hard one as yes it would protect a persons private life but it would also allow others to cover up things which need to be exposed.
Also how many of us buy magazines like take a break, heat ect or watch shows like Jeremy Kyle, to get a glimpse into someone elses life, l am sure that many people within the scene have at some point enjoyed reading about someone elses "sordid" sex life...
Its awful that we can be spread over the papers and our lives laid out for all to see but sadly until attitudes change it is the risk that we run.

I wish people who discover these links could take a screen shot of them, I hate to be adding to that sites hits, but I can't really make a valid comment based on heresay, having read it though all I can say is 'Gaaaaah, errrr, gaaah crap'
It is total crap, the writing is crap, the info is crap, the one and only thing it is designed to do is destroy.
It is the worst in gutter journalism and the last line was especially nasty, cruel, misleading and judges us all, not just pro-dommes.
So think about it those who say she 'is part responsible' when they run out of Pro-dommes to chase, they might start on non pros who have public jobs/those who are school governors/volunteers (as has already happened) and eventually, what is to stop them from going after parents?

i agree with this - problem is we're not going to get any positive news about this in the NOTW
Myabe we need to have a national coming out day where hundreeds of us go somewhere prominent and all come out, then it won't be news any more.
we really need some kind of protection of our lifestyle but unfortunately things appear to be moving the other way towards further criminalising us for our private relationships and activities which affect nobdy else.
NOTW are nasty bastards.

Y! The Mail on Sunday exposure of Annabelle's Fantasy a few months ago was brought about by their resident photographer selling the story for four thousand quid or so. The publisher - based in the Netherlands - closed the site, and the co-manager (the photographer being her equal) has been forced to leave the UK to find work. Of course all the models used on the site are without the work that AF provided.
The BDSM community are part of wider society, a point that Backlash et al keep making. While we should hold our heads up proudly since what we're doing is not wrong, we have to accept that our ranks also include the lowest forms of scum, who lie, cheat and betray.
If the NoTW has lied or at the very least printed false information, then the Press Complaints Commission should be informed immediately. Care should be taken to avoid picking them up for minor details - spelling mistakes, etc. - since printing a correction merely gives them an opportunity to reprint the story. What I'd love to see is a McCann-style massive headline saying that they were wrong and they're sorry, but that was brought about by a major lawsuit and we'd need some pretty substantial and damaging errors/falsehoods for that to happen. However, enough complaints and the PCC will have to act.
If we run and hide, we appear guilty. If we let it slide, we appear weak.

I was just discussing this with Lucy - I asked her, isn't being a teacher AND a pro domme setting oneself up for this kind of thing? Cos I wouldn't do it.
Lucy said (and I think she is right and am utterly put back in place on this issue) the point is, Mistress S is doing nothing wrong and her ability to be a fabulous teacher is not affected by her private consensual adult activities any more than anyone else's ability to be a good teacher is affected by their private adult consensual activities.
Why should people who have done nothing wrong have to live in fear. Virtually our entire community lives in fear. Why should we have to? It's an outrage, and it's getting worse fast.

I don't think Professor Tim implied support: Just that he pointed out the realities of the situation. The most immoral person in this situation is the "pal" who exposed her.
However, going forward, there are only two things that will change this situation for good and both will take years, maybe longer, to deliver.
They are:
- decent privacy laws
- The bdsm community evolving to be as openly acknowledged as a part of life as the gay community now is.
Long, hard road folks - and we are a the stage where a majority (myself included) would not stand up and be counted - so kudos to those who do, on our behalf.
