I think these stories help with that a great deal the only problem is peoples careers are ruined in the process.

Money is the motivator that precipitates these stories, not moral outrage. As long as people can make money from publishing shit like this, they will continue to publish it.

Well as expected the NOTW printed total lies about me. I have left my job earlier than I had wanted to (although already had handed my notice in).
I will remain a proud member of the fetish community and I will be back out at clubs once the article is no more than chip shop wrappers.

Saffy,you have my sympathy and support. I hate NOTW and have done since the 1980's, when I was a train driver and Murdoch caused the Sun strikes, then moved all the newspaper traffic off the trains and onto the roads.
The scum still hasn't quite gone down the plug-hole yet. Good luck in whatever you do in future.

Don't see why people are so surprised/shocked by this story.
It's very sad and unfortunate for the victim, all sympathy to her, but when you have clubs and websites like this then it's just too easy for journalist scum to do 'research' and come up with an endless stream of these expose stories.
The system is so geared and biased towards them it's simply not funny. Everything is spun so that on the surface it seems aboveboard but in reality the stories don't stand up to scrutiny.
Implications and inuendoes, such as teacher and sex, are very much the order of the day and, lets face it, it's what the great unwashed want to read.
They put themselves forward as bing the guardians of morality when the simple truth is that they have none. Maybe the debate should focus more on how do we, as a community, turn the tables? Maybe setting up a BDSM periodical of our own, aimed at exposing these 'reporters of facts' should be the way to go?

I have little or no sympathy for this woman, because if you take the time and trouble to build a website and advertise yourself to the public whilst doing a job such as school teacher , police officer , prison officer , etc surely its only a matter of time before someone from the press is going to have a pop at you, pro dom/mes imo only exploit peoples wants and needs for cash anyway, most of them aren't "into it" for real anyway, so if that brings them some flak.....so what , tough titty, if you cant stand the heat get out of the dungeon .

I've just read the so-called NOTW "article" and it's pretty much what I expected - classic red-top tabloid journalese at its worst, designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
Whilst thousands starve in Africa, and people are being killed daily in Afghanistan and Iraq, I'd have thought there'd be better things to write about. Still, there must be a market for this kind of scandal story, otherwise NOTW journos would write about alternative topics eg the weekly meetings of trainspotters in their local church hall etc. But they never do, do they?
As always, the nail on which the story hangs is the combination of circumstances. It's not the fact that she's a dominatrix or she's a schoolteacher, it's the fact that she's both at the same time. Of course, the fact that the stereotypical school-marm (30 years ago) used to cane naughty boys didn't do her any favours.
Either way her position at the school is now untenable and her teaching career is finished. No other school will employ her in future because she's too hot to handle. The board of governors (always peopled by snake-bite evangelists and other religious types) plus the indomitable ladies of the PTA are guaranteed to lean heavily on the headmistress, even if the headmistress actually wanted to keep Saffy on at the school.
The most Saffy can try to salvage from this debacle is a more favourable exit settlement ie getting more money than the standard leaving conditions in return for not fighting her dismissal, thereby bringing more publicity to the school. It's worth a try.
Of course there's probably a mortgage to be paid, so in the absence of other alternatives she may have to be a full-time pro-domme now. Question is, who grassed her up to the NOTW and made the connection between her day-job and extra curricular activities? A disgruntled client?
This isn't the first pro-domme to be outed by the NOTW in recent weeks. Can anyone see the possibility of a pattern emerging here? Seems to me like they view outing pro-dommes as an easy target that helps fill the paper.
