Sounds suspiciously like a wind up.Worth bearing in mind though that the majority of successful prosecutions come from the accused making a confession.Often there isn't any strong evidence and the police just offer people the chance to put their hands up,which they accept.

First take all the details, and call the station back, by finding a number yourself, or calling your local police call centre and ask to be routed through. That's the genuine check carried out.

Ask all the details of what this is in connection with too.

If it appears genuine, take a lawyer with you, having represenation during events is essential.
