Energy - funny old stuff isn't it. I ask you to define energy - you can feel the results of the output of energy but can you define it? Is it tangible or an elusive slippery ethereal thing? Energy powers everything we do, we convert food into energy to live our lives, harness fossil fuels and those from renewable sources to power our society but do we really understand 'energy'? I transfer my energy along my beloved snake whip in a reciprocal exchange for mutual benefit, that wonderful release of endorphins for the recipient and the resultant boost of power for me. I know that when I use my energy to cut a slice from a freshly baked loaf of bread, I am converting the energy of the sun to power my day. But is there more? I think so and events over the last year or so have prompted me to write this down, partly for my own exploration and perhaps to strike a chord with others out there in the IC community.
Since I was too young to recall, I have been interested in the alternative, the inexplicable, the indefinable. For various reasons I did not start to explore these interests until few years ago and the more I find out and experience, the more I realise how much more is out there than is picked up by our tangible senses. I always used to put off finding out more despite meeting many people along the way who told me that I had that indefinable something and that I should use it for good. I wasn't ready, there was always something else distracting me whether it was work, lovers, addictions or just the normal stresses of life. I took a huge step a couple of years ago and removed myself from an unhappy and unbalanced work environment – ironically one of the caring professions, cleared my life of negative influences, decided to explore the world of BDSM and started to concentrate my energies on healing myself with the hope of then being able to help others. Today that healing is complete, the wounds are still a bit tender and need to be cared for but they are clean and wholesome so now I can start to use my energy in a positive way without sucking the life force out of others.
I was first aware of an exchange of energy with someone around a year ago, it was the weirdest experience I have ever had and at first I didn't have a clue what was going on but he explained and I trusted him enough to go with the flow - literally. It was an incredibly beautiful experience and was literally life changing for me as it confirmed that there was something more. I love that man to this day for sharing that with me. Everybody has energy, many or even most are not aware of it but it is a constant ebb and flow, like pouring warm dry sand from the palm of one hand to the other, allowing it to trickle through your fingers. Sometimes grains will fly and gather in the hands of another and there are some who inadvertantly grab it and drain you without realising what they are doing, they need so much love to help to restore their own balance that sometimes one has to walk away for self protection. If you don't, you will be sucked dry of your own essence of being and then you will not be able to help anyone until you rebalance yourself. I have allowed that to happen to me in the past, partly due to my arrogance and partly born of my desire to help and heal, it almost destroyed me and I now know that I need to conserve some before I get to empty.
Since then, my awareness has increased exponentially and in the last few weeks, some astonishing things have happened that would literally defy medical science. It is so very very good to observe the benefits that the proper use of energy can bring. Call it what you will, for me the name is Reiki but there are many names for it. All I know is that it works and I so want to use it for healing others. I have to learn to manage it well and be aware of being drained as soon as it starts, my levels are easily depleted but the more that I practice, the more there is to go around so imagine the strength of the collective consciousness of the scene if everyone united for the common good.
There is a dark side, I have seen that energy misused in the scene, either by people who need to learn to control it or people who control it for their own selfish reasons of self-aggrandisement. Those who need to learn how to control it can be helped if they allow it, those who manipulate others should be ashamed of themselves.
I know an eco-warrior who is focussing on the proper use of this energy as well as raising awareness of the disgraceful way we are poisoning the oceans and I am preparing to meet an investigator to help with the studies into this life force. I am also starting a new job which will take me back into that caring profession from which I fled several years ago but it is a different place with an apparently different ethos - it feels good there. Until I can have a greater understanding of how to allow our energies to flow in a positive way to help everyone, I will concentrate on the more tangible whilst developing my healing skills.
Right, back to reality, where's that kettle?

I ensure that I have consent before sharing directly with someone, anything else is not safe, sane or consensual. The exchange between my friend and I just hooked up without any decision as we have a close connection but imagine suddenly feeling what I can best describe as swirling and rippling waves around and inside you without knowing wtf was going on!

That sounds incredible and was the bit I was interested in. I just spent ages getting myself tied up with thinking about distinguishing types of energy in reply and then I hit the keyboard by mistake and lost it. Briefly, It was thoughts on 'excitable energy' usually to do with the future; and being energized in a sort of 'contented way' firmly in the present. The former tires you out and is a bit empty on it's own but the other has no drop and more possiblities. Regards sw

Yep, that is one way to describe it. I am really struggling with translating all this into the spoken or written word. If you've experienced it, you know, if you haven't, how does one begin to explain? Yes know what you mean. I have to be very careful to ground and protect fully before encountering other people as my desire to help and my ability to see where help is needed often used to leave me drained. Not anymore! And even my various conditions are kept in check by my use of self healing. This energy matrix we all inhabit is a wonderful and splendid thing, especially for those who know how to use it wisely and keep the balance. I have believed that energy is a something we can utilise and make work for any number of reasons. Energy can be used for good as well as for bad, mirroring the intent of the person who is channelling it at the time. It is something that someone can do wilfully or subconsciously. Energy can have any number of names depending on our beliefs. Some call it karma, some call it God, some call it Allah...whatever it is it can be manipulated. For me it is about balance. Always striving to achieve a balance in my life and avoiding those who drain energy from me, whilst enjoying the relationships where the energy can flow freely between us. One of the aspects of my professional domming is meeting many people who I may otherwise have not come into contact with. Some need a blockage flushing out to gain balance, some help me with my balance. Most I am pleased to say share an exchange with me that leaves us both refreshed and recharged whereas the occasion few sap me and leave me utterly exhausted and both physically and mentally drained. As I grow older and experience more of what the universe can offer, the more I realise there is so much I don't know. Just because we can't quantify it doesn't mean it can't, or doesn't, exist.
