It is now 2008, eleven years since New Labour came to power, close to 20 years since Thatcher was in power and still the Guardianistas and Mirror readers keep raising the bogeyman of right wing fascist conservatism here on IC.
I wonder how many of those who still see the right as fascists have being paying attention to the real world, one where civil liberties have been eroded constantly, ministers lie and screw up while never being held to account, and appeasement is once again seen as a virtue, especially at the expense of the English.
I have to say that it is funny watching the attacks on Boris, obviously some people don't like his opinions, but is that the best they can come up with? It's not like one of his closest advisers has had to go, and I haven't seen Boris being best friends with people who support terrorism and even give it their blessings as religious leaders.
I don't live in London, but what happens there affects me, as far as I can see Boris stands the best chance of beating Livingston, so I'm going to support him.

Could be worse We could have had Mugabe running the country. Now compared to Zimbabwe the UK does not seem *that* bad a place to be now does it? Picture, picture ?......I dont need no stinking picture !

We could end up with someone worse. We have no-go areas in this country. Criminals have more rights than law-abiding people. It pays well to start producing babies as soon as you hit puberty - you get loads of rights and no responsibilities. Children (including hulking great 17 and threequarters louts) have far more 'rights' than adults. Politeness is dead and unmourned. ef

If all that you say is true (which I very much doubt) then is all that only applicable to the UK? I dont think so Picture, picture ?......I dont need no stinking picture ! Edited 2 Apr 08, 9:57 PM by rehtael_ni_dal

We do have no go areas, and few people will speak out about them. They are cultural ghettos caused by the failed experiment of multiculturalism. There isn't a problem with other cultures being mixed with British culture, after all, that is the essence of British Culture. It is when you try to retain and replicate every culture, of every person, that comes to this country that you end up with those of each culture forming their own areas within towns and cities. I think the OP is spot on with the points he made. How many of us can say this country is a better place to live in since new labour came into office? There's so many different things they've cocked up it would take all day to list them all, I can think of a 100 reasons off the top of my head not to vote for them. Even traditional labour voters are waking up to what this lot are really like.
Once it was just innocence, brash ideas and insolence, but you will never get away with the things you say today |
