I'd appreciate some advice please about nipple piercings.

End of last August I had a VCH and each nipple pierced. The VCH healed in a week or so as advised by the piercer and I knew the nipples would take much longer but now, more than 7 months on, they are still a bit gooey each day.

I had rings in for piercing but kept catching them so changed them for surgical steel bars after about 2 weeks. In Feb I had to go into hospital so had to change the bars to plastic ones, which are still in now.(I don't wnat to fiddle with them unless absolutely necessary)

They have had pretty much zero play, and none at all not even a gentle squeeze from Master in 4 weeks and STILL they are gooey each day.

::sigh::

I have cleaned them with nothing but salt water rinses as advised.

I am beginning to wonder if I am one of those people in whom they will never heal!

What else can I do?

Stick it out a bit longer. Mine took a good 8 months or so to heal completely. I've had them in for nearly 10 years now without any problems.

I had my left one done in 2003 and every now again it gets sticky after heavy play.

The right one I have had 8 weeks and still cleaning everyday. The first one did take about 6 months to clear, I have rings in each. I have read they can take 12 months to heal properly, so would not panic yet

Mine took a very long time to heal and even then they were gooey at best. Eventually I took mine out and realised that I had been pierced wrong. If you have small nipples you are apparently meant to get your pierced behind your nipples not through. I don't know if this is the case for you but I didn't realise this.

Edited to add: It also depends if you got them frozen as it adds some healing time.

Also I would still have mine done again. Once it heals they feel amazing :-)

I had mine for about 4 years. I eventually took them out as after healing they would out of the blue go gooey. Then they would settle down and be fine for a while before going gooey again. Catching them didn't help either and they would start belling and then go gooey and it just became a never ending circle.

I had mine for three years before I gave up and took them out. They never healed properly... odd cos I have other piercings and have no trouble what so ever...

Keep checking back with your piercer...could be jewellry style/length/content...could be you are cleaning them too often with the salt water...

Sorry I can't be more positive...

Hi there,

I had my left nipple done over 3 years ago and it took over a year to heal completely. I remember one night i woke up to go to the loo and when i got there i noticed that my nipple bar was missing.

I sleep on my front most of the time and the bar had somehow unskrewed itself. So after careful steralisation i tried to re-insert the bar whilst wet from salt water. The pain was so excruciating i very nearly passed out.

However a year later and careful cleaning with alternate salt water solutions and a 3% Hydrogen peroxide solution it finally healed. Even after a little rough play it would be sore and not very pleasent.

However i was not going to give up on it. Unfortunately my nipple piercing met a nasty end. An uncaring Dom left me tied to the altar in a club where some random man came and groped me whilst i was out of it in spacy world. He managed to catch his cufflink on my nipplebar and it tore. I was so out of it i didn't really notice just how badly it was damaged until the next day when i decided to take the bar out and let it heal over, because i would rather that than heavy scar tissue and a wonkey nipple bar.

If you love it then perservere. The less you play with it until it is fully healed the better the result, but i know these things are exciting and all you want to do is play with it. I have had my Belly button for 8 years now and all i want to do is play with it even now.

Good luck

I know when mine were healing the salt water soaks did more harm than good. They dried out my skin so much it wouldn't heal. A piercer friend of mine recommended this stuff and it really helped. Plus, it's cold and squirty and feels really good on achy piercings. =D

Mine never healed. I tried 3 times and each time they wouldn't heal and eventually, after a few years, rejected. In the end I just had to accept that my body hated them and wouldn't let me have them. :(

had mine done and took almost exactly nine months to heal(piercer recommeded 6-9 months).done with stainless/surgical steel though now i believe titanium is the way to go. re leakage if we should call it that ,as long as it is white and not green carry on. you will be surprised at the amount of "leakage" there is.

i used rock salt(avoid ordinary salt as it has nasty anticaking agents and allsorts in it..

re cleaning ..i found that getting it soaking in the shower(and def avoid using soaps/shower gels on it) set the healing back as did moving it too often.in the end i cleaned it less than advised and only moved it every other day, also wahsed around it using antibacterial soap.

also tried to avoid sleeping in that side where possible..

i,ve had a 15 months trying to get an piercing in the top of my ear to heal.......and it,s only playing ball now...

good luck
