Thanks for your input. I'd recommend anyone to look at real life examples too and agree that life experience and wide reading is beneficial as long as you don't treat everything you read as the gospel. I don't remember joining TSR I think I have just looked at so far. |

In a (rather large) nutshell: I look at what he needs, then at what he wants and his idea of the 'type' of slave that is his ideal or he visualises becoming; then I look at what I want from and for a slave... then I look at which aspects of those are the same and which are different, so that I know what areas will take more 'training'/time to achieve and which will take less... I try and figure out where we both want and need to be in M/s terms and then work out the best route to get there - thinking first of the general picture, and then taking it in smaller stages and thinking about small, realistic, achievable ways of moving closer to the aim.
Basically you can't 'train' someone if you don't know what you want and/or what they need (plus any differences there might be between the two!)... and you have to know *why* you are getting them to do certain things... how those things are moving them closer to becoming a 'better' slave or fulfilling something of your ultimate aim. "Be quiet and come with me. I won't betray you."

I know it sounds pedantic but I've found it useful to write down my thoughts in a logical sequence under various headings so that nothing important is missed out.

Well, I don't want to have a 'slave', but if I did I suppose I would train him the same way I have my sub. Consistent rules applied long term and enforced strictly. Positive reinforcement for good behaviour and punishment and/or loss of privileges for poor conduct. Mind you 'training' is only part of a D/s relationship.
