Seriously, mentally shattered!
And i have this computer here, original hard drive is sata, i'm trying to install an ide hard drive in it, used a new cable, put it all in together, does it work?
does it fuck!

A new IDE drive will only install if you have spare IDE cables for it. They are black and in a double row, each row has 20 pins. Sata drive connectors are about 1cm or so across and slip onto an edge connector. The power connectors for the two interfaces are different too. IDE drives have a 4 pin power connector. Sata has an edge connector. Science, the only religion that works even if you don't believe in it. | |||

You may need to check the system BIOS to ensure the PC knows to expect an IDE hard drive to be connected - the original setting may be disabled if it has only ever had a SATA drive. ¬lumi We're adults. When did that happen? And how do we make it stop? |
