Hi to all the pro's out there. I have always wondered what others tell the dreaded I.R. that they do for a living, ie what kind of businesses you register yourselves as? I have mine down as "Domination and Correction services" which probably causes some titters but hey ho as they apparantly police the web-sites.

There is nothing wrong with putting your job role on your forms. As long as they fill their pockets with a % of your well earned money.. they couldn't care less. :-D

Most amusing thing was about a "famous Madam" whose tax affairs were being dealt with by a firm I once had an interest in

The Revenue issued assessments as a Model , these were appealed against on the basis she wasn't a model but a prostitute.

After a lot of toing and froing the Revenue issued assessments on her as a prostitute

These were then appealed against on the grounds that if tax was paid on these earnings the State would be living on immoral earnings.

The Revenue would have none of that and eventually tax was paid

Miss Prim of Muir Academy is registered as a Private School.

Our accountant did muse as to whether we could apply for charitable status and get the tax breaks associated with the likes of Eton or Cheltenham Ladies College.

But then he sobered up.

I have had a 'VAT lady' go through my accounts whilst I was busy packing canes and birches, with my TV assistant bustling around doing the office chores, bringing her tea, etc. whilst fully (but not entirely convincingly) dressed as a girl.

I put myself down as a professional disciplinarian, which the tax man accepted without question until last year. The IR then contacted me and said I couldn't put that on my returns any more which led to a huge discussion with me telling them they are a bunch of hypocrites, that they were guilty of procuring, etc.

The chap looked at my website and decided that, in view of the counselling side and the fact that I have the appropriate qualifications, I should declare myself as a counsellor ... couldn't explain how to get round claiming for canes, straps, etc. though!

I refused and said they either accept my taxes for my profession or I won't pay any ... the law is extremely contradictory and really ought to be sorted out ... who will vote for me as Head of Taxes! :-)

Some people say I'm a bitch, that's just not true - I have the heart and soul of a kind and gentle person ... in a jar, on my desk, next to my cane.

Did he say why you couldn't put that down anymore? Could he actually justify advising you to lie to the IR about your profession!?

I guess I'm in much the same boat: I am and I'm claiming 'life coach', for which I'm qualified and as which I do work. But I pro-Domme as well, and canes, straps, etc do go on the accounts. So it will be interesting when they spot it.

But there are a few legit cross-overs here. Endorphin rushes for spanking or whipping are therapeutic and now used in mainstream healthcare in some places. When I was using hotel rooms for domming, and needed a room remote from prying ears, I used to tell the booking clerk I was doing anger management work with my client! I do, in all truth, regard my domming work as much a therapeutic intervention as a hedonistic one.

My accountant is a wimp and said if I was put down as an aromatherapist I could claim for tools with no questions asked. I have decided to change accountants this year as I dont think hes been very helpful, and will change it to something more truthfull, and hopefully pay less tax. Just hope I dont get them poking in My TVs drawers

LOL no but I think Mistress Tytania probably has it just about right ;) I do still refer to myself as a professional disciplinarian and haven't received any comments this year so far! I refuse to be less than honest about what I am doing and what the government is taking money from me for; after all I am extremely proud of what I do and what I achieve. If I have no problems with people knowing who and what I am, why should anyone else?
