Had to take pussycat back to the vets again today. The 5th visit in 8 days.

His temperature has gone up again despite antibiotics and anti inflammatories.

The vet is keeping him in overnight to do blood tests. It could be feline leaukemia or feline AIDS.

Billy and Casper have never had a night apart in their lives. I felt so shit saying goodbye to him.

I feel like the worst mum in the world :(

You're on tenterhooks - pets are like a member of the family.

But clearly it's a family you're doing everything you can to look after.

And until you know for sure what it is, there's the chance that not long from now, Billy could be tearing round happily, and these past few days could be just a bad memory.

I hope it isn't so serious. My best wishes are with you and your mog. They are like our children, it's so hard when they are sick.

our pets are often quite literally our 'children' and the love we feel for them is strong and protective. one of the most difficult things in the world is having to make decisions we know might not turn out well. and as for leaving one behind at the vets... 'been there' one too many times. the good news is that often the results aren't as bad as we fear and the treatment is a simple one. i will be saying a prayer that this is one of those times.
