I'm officially jealous - it's something I've long wanted to do but never seem to have enough spare cash. Great stuff! |

Fantastic - it's something I've always wanted to do but have never had the spare £££s. Instead I look longingly at www.woodlands.co.uk from time to time. I'm a threadkiller, twisted threadkiller

You're reminding me of Spalding Grey's 'Swimming to Cambodia'. He considers buying a wood but decides against it because he's worried about who'll pick up all the fallen leaves.
It looks beautiful. I hope you all enjoy it.

What an interesting post..I have also been looking into the same.
The rules on building are interesting, You can put a shed up to manage the woods, there is no size limit but you must not stay overnight more than about 21 days in a year. (may be 28 but in that region, though who knows and how is interesting)
You can extend this to living all year round if you can make enough money from the woods to have a subsistence living.
The shed should contain the usual woodland management tools, and have lots of fixing points to keep any rope and tools out of the reach of rats etc.
I am a gardener some of the time and manage a few trees in the year, used to work with tree surgery outfit years ago so know a bit about the subject.
We have 42 acres of council, semi ancient at the bottom of our garden and are one of the few housed to back straight on to it so when the gates are locked at night it is very peaceful.
Good luck and enjoy. |
