Buying some woodland (22)
Tanos's profile . Tanos's homepage
Posted by Tanos on Mon 11 Feb 08, 10:29 AM
I've had my offer to buy some woodland accepted. I've been looking at
various pieces of woodland since the autumn, but this has been the best of
the bunch: 19 acres of broadleaf woodland on the southern end of the
Cheshire plain between Manchester and Birmingham. The wood is very secluded
- it's surrounded by streams and ditches on all sides, with a single
access point -
and includes a lot of young shrubby growth so it's also well screened.
I've always had a love of trees, going right back to my childhood and
adolescence, but it was only last year that I discovered how easily you can
buy woodland these days. Obviously there is a BDSM dimension to this (which
explains my renewed interest in outdoor BDSM like pony play etc ) but
I'm also very motivated by the land and trees themselves.
The buying process is very similar to that for houses, with searches,
exchange of contracts, a completion date etc, but no chain and
no building society that wants some remedial damp-proofing done
The picture shows one of the open glades in the wood. There's a lot of work
to be done establishing tracks etc, and this is going to be a multi-year
project. But I'm not frightened of that kind of committment, am I? Edited Tue 12 Feb 08, 10:16 AM by Tanos

Great news. An other piece of unspoilt woodland saved.
It has been one of my long term plans to purchase and maintain a woodland much for the same reasons. Finding a suitable site has always been difficult and is remarkable you found one in so short a time. Today's the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

It looks like a lovely site
Do you have any idea what kind of wildlife you have living there? "It's not that I condone facism or any -ism for that that matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism. He should believe in himself"

I've seen foxes, hares, woodcocks, a couple of pheasants, some vole-looking holes in the stream bank and there's at least one badger set on some adjacent land that's not included in the proposed sale. On the sapling-killers front, I've not seen any squirrels, but I've seen some footprints which look a bit deer-like.
There are also some patches of nettles and young woody growth that would make excellent switches... www.tanos.org.uk

Fabulous! I used to have my own little wood, with a stream when I lived in Devon and I loved it. It is so peaceful to be able to go and sit there.
A little log cabin there would be amazing.
I'm in my own world. It's Ok, they know me here.
