When teenager Joanne Raine had her boyfriend's nickname "Roo" tattooed on her stomach it was supposed to be a sign of her undying love.
The 19-year-old from Darlington paid £80 for the Chinese artwork in 2004 and was delighted with the results.
That was until she showed it off in a Chinese takeaway and found out it actually spelled "supermarket."

I knew a girl who wanted a chinese symbol for good luck or good fortune, what she ended up with is the symbol for money. The tattoo'd symbol is offensive to the chinese so every time she goes for a meal she has to wear a long sleeve top. Silly bint. |

Well I shall keep a certain individual's name aside but I do recall a certain lampshade coming to our home. I was told that the chinese symbols represented the 'five elements'.
A chinese friend came around for a photoshoot, to tell us that it did indeed translate to 'Year of the Horse'
Just couldn't let that one go "Everyone is a potential naked slave to you once you become a trainer".

I have Chinese, Japanese and Malaysian friends who tell me they have no end of fun reading the actual meaning of idiotic white and black folks tattoos...
I think the best one I've heard about so far is a muscular young chap spotted on a plane who had something meaning either "woman house / bothel / toilet" on his arm. Fool!

Year of the Horse:
1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026, 2038
Some of those dates have to be of use to you and make your lampshade a little less problematic!
Elemental my dear Watson.

Yes, but at least now you can get it out of the cupboard in 8 years time and be up to the minute. Clearly, it's in your interest not to annoy other users of IC by felching the wanking barfs or weblogs with ads.
