Munches FAQ.
This is aimed as a guide for people new to the Manchester Munch or new to Munches. The questions are questions I have been asked in the past and still get today.
What do should I expect at a Munch?
Its a pub trip. People drinking chating and eating, get to meet people new and old. From the casual observer it would seem like any other group of people meeting in a back room of a bar.
How do I recognize 'The' Munch?
Head to the lowest floor in Via Fossa. The Munch has signs up all round the area saying 'Manchester Munch', most people seem to miss these signs. There is also usually an A-Z on one of the tables.
Can someone meet me?
We now have a team of meet and greeters. If you contact us before hand we can either arrange for one of these people to meet you or for Lord-James to meet you. We can meet you outside if you are nervous and take you in.
Who goes to Munch's?
The Manchester Munch is open to all type of people, we have TV's, Masters, Tops, Daddies, Mummies, Doms, subs, slaves, switches, swingers into CP and the whole spectrum in between. People come in small groups, as single people, and as couples.
What should I wear?
What ever you like. It is a normal bar in the 'Gay Village', so jeans, leathers, silk or lace will be OK. What you would normally wear for a Day out around town.
How will I know who is at the munch?
All people that come to the Manchester Munch get a little name sticker, we colour code the stickers red for sub and black for dom, switches get to have both colours. By using nick names or a first name it makes it easier to meet lots of people and be able to rember name far more easily.
How much is it going to cost?
There is no entry fee or membership to attend this Munch. Drinks are not that expensive at Via, but don't get me started on how much soft drinks cost. As I don't drink alcohol I have no real idea of costs but no one has complained that the prices at the bar are expensive.
What times does the Munch start / finish?
We get to the bar at about 12 noon, so that newbies (first timer) can meet up with few people and not have to walk into a large room of total strangers. The Munch normally winds up around 5-6 and then Couch is in the evening.
Do I need to be a member?
There is no membership at all involved with the Manchester Munch.
How many people come?
Anything from 50 to 120 but all over the space of 5 hours or so, so you have comings and goings.
What not to expect at a Munch?
This bit is the bit to really think about. The Manchester Munch is not a place you going to find a one night stand at, its not somewhere to get a kinky fuck, it is not a pick up place. You may, if your lucky, find someone that you can become friends with or more. The Munch is a place to make friends and to learn new and interesting things about BDSM and what other people get up to, it may not be your cup of tea but non of us should give up looking for new knowledge, even knowedge outside our own experience. The Munch is somewhere people should relax and to have fun, consensual fun.
Messing around happens, but out and out shows of D/s play are not good behaviour. Toys can be shown but using them in the bar is not good behaviour. Drink is available but all things in moderation.
