I just went through my network and realised how many were on there that i (for whatever reason) know absolutely nothing about, and seldom even speak to.

When people, especially newcomers, look at your network and recognise someone, they feel safer about that person. I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing, in fact i'm fairly sure it's not, but regardless, it is how it works. And i'm not happy supporting this by networking with people that i don't really know that well.

I appreciate that everyone uses their network differently. For me, i want mine to be full of real life contacts that i know personally, or on-line people that i've been speaking to in depth and for considerably longer than a few days. Hence this purge.

If you're off, it's not because i hate you! It's just that it's my network, and recent events have caused me to put more emphasis on the relevance of networking than i had before. So basically, don't take offence... if we're no longer joined it's because i don't really know you.
