I was walking down the street in desperate need of a red pepper and some toothpaste when I looked up and saw the moon.
I know for a fact that I won't be the first or last person to use this cliché but it looked absolutely fucking stunning.
It was perfectly whole, slightly orange with a robe of mist adorning its shape.
It looked like the moon that was glued onto the backdrops of old fifties detective films.
The type of moon that couples would kiss under and old people would look at to remember.
Thinking about their youth, when they too would be star stuck and love filled under that very same night light.
Then it vanished behind a cloud and was lost.
For a second it was perfect and then it was gone.
Nothing is really perfect but you can catch glimpses of it if you know where to look.
Nothing lasts forever.
No book will ever be truly perfect but a line of it will be perfection, one line will sum up everything that you've ever wanted to say about your life.
One line will be yours and truly yours.
People can be fun but no one will ever make you laugh every moment of your life, they physically can't.
But they will have one joke that you'll chuckle about forever.
Everyone will argue with their spouse and at times they will grate and you'll think about leaving but then they'll smile or give you a look and inside you'll know that you could never love anyone else quite as much as you love this person in front of you, right here, right now.
For that moment they are perfect.
I believe that you only love, truly, madly and deeply just once in your life. I thought I'd found it at least three times but it never worked out, now it could be depressing but don't think of it like that. Imagine the rush you'll feel when it finally happens. Imagine the high you'll get when you finally find your soul mate.
Kittens and puppies look perfect but they'll all piss on your carpet.
Your best mate may understand you but you'll argue and fight.
Your parents may be perfect but eventually they'll get old and senile and die.
But all of them, for a little while at least, were everything you ever wanted out of life.
Everything was perfect.
Be thankful for what you have, even if it's only for a little while.
It doesn't matter if you don't live a full life, just makes sure you live it to its fullest.
Go out when you shouldn't, come home late, sleep with people you should avoid, drink too much, eat too well, smile when you're in danger.
Just make sure that when the drinks run out, the bar is closed and everyone's going home you have memories to savour later on.
One day you'll be old and senile and lying on your death bed but the next life won't scare you.
If you've lived well you'll have seen so much perfection in this world that when the end comes and it will, no point lying or hiding from it and your life flashes before your eyes.
Have enough memories to make sure that you go to sleep with a smile.
That's one powerful moon.

And you are one powerful writer!
More than enough of that resonated for me, so thank you. And in response to the penultimate line... I am doing my very best "It's alright to let yourself go as long as you can let yourself back" Mick Jagger |

Saw it. Stood in the middle of the road and gawked, whilst a car beeped at me. Twas beautiful. Please check your irony levels before attempting to respond to the majority of my posts. |
