three to go.
Well, despite this one feeling like the 'doom and gloom lives here!' exam ahead of time, I feel like it went a lot better than expected, so in theory the one I thought I'd find the trickest is out of the way.
However, FINALLY getting an essay mark back, which wasn't exactly good by any standards, has made the thing next monday a bit more stressful than I'd thought it would be, but the feedback was fairly spot on upon reading the essay back, and it's my own fault in a few ways, although I do partly blame the subject at hand (philosophy stuffs!) having vastly different expectations in writing than I've ever had to write before. Still, being here is supposed to be a learning process beyond the things read in books alone, so things will be taken from this ![]()
Next up is the one I feel will be the easiest of the five; hooray for 'right & wrong answer' type math & statistic things!

Hmmmm two down three to go. No matter how hard you work, there will always be a time when the marks awarded dont quite reach your expectations. You have read the feedback and no doubt the constructive critisism that came with it, re read your work and seen parts that could perhaps have been better. Its simply a learning curve and from what I know of you, you will learn from the comments given and make your next piece of work even better. Good luck with the next lot of exams anyway, you deserve to do well.

Good luck with the rest of them! Don't be put off by something not *quite* being what you'd expected - the knack of trying to fit your work to what *someone else* expects definitely doesn't arrive over night! Every criticism does make you think next time. "... The reason that some portraits don't look true to life is that some people make no effort to resemble their pictures ..." Dali

One silly little thing: remember to eat a proper lunch. It's amazing how easy it is to miss it during an exam week. You must keep your body fuelled. Good luck.

I think the problem mostly comes from having no idea at all what to expect, which partly comes from not really knowing in much detail what was expected of me. Still, as much as I could argue that there wasn't enough guidance given since it was a new thing to a number of students, I felt comfortable enough to have a stab at it without pestering someone to make sure I was on the right lines, and I know fine well that I'm supposed to be more responsible for myself here. If nothing else, that mistake won't happen again

I won't We've already had a lovely email telling us when provisional results will be available, which is a wonderful thing to know, since there's nothing as annoying as waiting for marks to appear, especially if there are nerves over things! Strangely, this is my first real taste of academic faliure since school (and then it was in things I didn't care about), and I'm feeling a lot less disappointed then I thought I would... Ok, so it's not a happy state of affairs by any means, but I feel far from cut up about it. My attitude is that it wasn't my discipline and I won't HAVE to do anything in the same area in future if I choose not to. It's far preferable to getting the same mark in something Sociological, which really would have me worrying! When a man loves a woman it should be understood,

Strangely, I was told off for not doing that very thing when I went to visit a friend earlier this evening! Probably not surprising I've came out of them both so far feeling totally ravenous! When a man loves a woman it should be understood,

Pah!! I could go off some people you know!!!
It must be reassuring that it's not your main subject that you struggled in "... The reason that some portraits don't look true to life is that some people make no effort to resemble their pictures ..." Dali

I got some bad marks back a couple of days ago. After the last 2 and a half years of being borderline 1st and 2:1, I barely scraped a pass on a group presentation we did. I cried for the majority of the day, then I woke up the next day and wondered what on earth I was so upset about.
Just take into account the feedback - you know you have the ability, so work on it for future essays and things H (Should be toiling on 2 essays at the moment, but has had enough) x If you hate a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Had I known this, I'd have said to you what I said to a friend here who got a similarly bad mark for his own subsidiary module essay before christmas - You don't just become a bad student overnight. It's a stunningly obvious thing to say, and it probably doesn't help when the 'sting' of the mark is there, but I think it's the one thing you realise is true pretty quickly.

Yeah, my dissertation tutor said marks were moderated too, so if there's a huge discrepancy, then it could change. There's a bit of a personal agenda with that particular module leader too, so I can't help but feel we've been given a raw deal.
Or maybe it really was crap. I dunno. Your point certainly stands though, and in relation to the final mark, the effect will be minimal, so I can't really bitch and moan about it too much H x (still should be working on those essays) If you hate a man, walk a mile in his shoes.
