Some of you will know that we lost my precious dog Taz in October this year, a very hard loss after nearly 16 years.

i swore we would not get another dog as none could ever replace her......but.......

The house has been so emtpy and on Sunday we took a ride to Manchester dogs home, just to have a look, and came home with a georgous little girl by the name of Ella :-)

She's an adorable 11 month old collie, black and white with funny stick up ears.

It's so bloody hard to walk around the dog home and NOT to take one home. i went with the idea that IF i was going to get another dog then it would be similar to Taz (x breed staffy) or Labrador.....but we had to take George with us (Masters dog)who's a collie. One of the kennel maids saw George and immediately pounced on us as she had Ella in and was desperate to home her before Xmas.

So me and my son took a look at her. She was in a kennel with 4 other dog's and as soon as she saw us she pushed her way to the front and stared licking our fingers. When she come out of the kennel to meet George she jumped up to both my son and i and kissed us........i think that was the moment Ella became one of the family.

She's settled nicely, she's got kennel cough and is off to the vets tomorrow, but we expected that.

It feels good to have my own dog around the house again although she will never replace Taz. Everyone who's met her so far has fallen in love with her and her big brown eye's.

i will post a pic soon

She will never replace Taz, but she will become as important as Taz and as loved as Taz.

I know that feeling. Boomer ( my jack russell...daft name i know) had to be put to sleep. then came Coby ( after Coby Bryant named by my basketball crazy son) i swore i would never have another dog but hey ho... there came Coby. Last week he was on the lead and being walked by my son when he was attacked by a staffie who was out alone. He is ok 'ish now after an op but although i don't live with him anymore it was a horrible thing to have happened.

~enjoy love, and a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful 2008 to you both.

This made me cry, remembering back to why and where boo was got from.

Thank you for this post, remembering is hard but always a good thing, past might be past but it makes the present and the future a thing to look forward to.

Fab news that another dog was re homed.

Wishing you all the best.

yep. this is where we slipped up too. We went, "just for a look". just to "see what was there".

bigggggg mistake - kennel maid introduced us, clipped a leash on Jess, and she damn near dragged BP down the path, and out the door, as if to say "home, now. I hate this place, Can we go, now? home?"

how could we refuse? (indeed we didn't - said Jess is now snoring away contentedly on our bed..)

hope Ellie gives you as much pleasure as Taz did, and our Jess does.

keth xx
