Someone I have known and respected for many years
called me out of the blue yesterday
.
I have not spoken to her for at least 3 years but as it is with all good friendships we seemed to just take up where we had left off, brought each other up to date with what we have been up to, and talked about mutual friends, and changes we have both witnessed in the scene. At this point she rocked me to the core by telling me that she has been out of it for a year! In all the time I have known her, and bearing in mind that I first met her when I was starting out in the early 80s, she was the sort of player I have always aspired to be. She now has Arthritis in most of her joints and cant get any pleasure from bondage (and thinking back on it some of the positions she got into may well have caused the damage to her joints in the first place) and pain is no longer erotic its just something she lives with now. None of this has dampened her spirits though and she gets a lot of amusement from watching her husband and Dom of 30 years running around after her like a mother hen, doing all the household chores and generally all the things she used to do for him. So here's to you both, proof that true love exists in this crazy scene.
Another good friend of mine (rosamundaa) is going into hospital on Tuesday to have a bit sliced off. Cancer is such a scary word and I cant begin to imagine how she is feeling. However old friend my thoughts and prayers are with you and you know where I am if you need me.
All this stuff puts life and the scene into some sort
of perspective. You only get one life make the most of
it and live every day to the full who knows it may be
our last or circumstances may throw a spanner in the
works and life may have to take a different course.
The scene is not the be all and end all of everything,
yes its fun and exciting and sometimes satisfying, but
so is a glorious sunset, the smell of a rose, the
wind in your hair, a babies smile and a day without
your name appearing in an obituary column ![]()
