I'm not the kind of gal who does her own car maintenance. But since the no MOT debacle, my car has been languishing in the specialist garage until someone could come and pick it up.
I won't let Himself drive yet, (see the trainee Domme in action!) though He's recovering very nicely from the op. So who is going to fetch the car? Me of course.
I recce'd the bus journey on the net and after a journey of 50 mins including a change, there I was at the garage, nodding sagely as the mechanic told me what they'd done. Fortunately it had all been agreed with Himself beforehand so I didn't flinch at the vast bill. However I did quail when Mr Mechanic told me to take it to have a geometry test. What?! Sums?! Maffs?! After an explanation and a long discussion on where to take it, off I went, navigating with a map. Who needs satnav? Not me, <smug grin>
The car failed it's maths test (by a teensy amount) and after hitting it with a hammer, (I was watching and cringing and thinking, "For Gods sake, don't break the new bits!") it soon learned the error of its ways and passed with flying colours. A quick drive home and one smug subbie. I can do garages now ![]()
And I've made three Christmas cakes too. The mix was so big, I had to make it in the washing-up bowl!
Should be able to sleep tonight...got to do something to keep my mind off 'it'!

Ah, if only they'd let you do that with students! I'm sure it wouldn't help them one little bit, but I'd feel better
My Grandmother used to make it in her twin tub, which probably explains my aversion to Christmas cake! Thank goodness I decided not to make you one! You can't escape the mince pies though! Maihri | ||
