The last time Dundee had a fetish club it folded after two nights due to the fact that it was not well enough attended. However, things have moved on since then and more people have come into the local scene and last night proved that it is now viable for a club to run in Dundee.
The venue, a snooker hall with attached pub area, is up three flights of stairs - not good for anyone with walking disabilities but it does give the venue a degree of privacy. The bar area consists of a seating area and a small dance floor in front of a stage. I saw the dance floor in use once only and wonder if perhaps it is not simply a wasted space - a piece of equipment there may be better.
The playroom was in the snooker hall, totally separate from the social area and it worked well in providing the right atmosphere. The equipment provided was a bench, a St Andrews cross, a suspension unit and a cage. Not that much but then there was not a great deal of play going on. I would say that the playroom, being such a big space, could also be used quite happily for private D/s scenes and that the addition of a mat or rug in a certain area would make it very suitable for bondage scenes.
The bar staff were friendly and had made the effort to get into the swing of things by wearing pvc police uniforms
Bar prices were reasonable.
There was one pool table in the bar area that was available for use during the first half of the night - unsure as to whether this will be the case every month.
The dress code was adhered to and the one couple, never attended a fetish club before, who appeared in jeans, were asked to leave. They will return suitably attired next month
Criticisms, not that many considering that this is a first club in a brand new venue and I am certain that they shall be ironed out prior to next month:
1. The DJ was too loud, as is the way of DJs....it's all about me me me! Although he did turn it down a couple of times when asked the level was still enough to make people raise their voices during normal conversations. Hopefully by next month he will learn that people come to fet clubs to converse and play and not to listen to music. On the plus side however, his choice of music was spot on.
2. The powerful and plentiful fans will be fabulous in the hot summer months, but in October they are not required. A few people did complain about being a bit chilly, and the issue was dealt with.
3. I personally felt it was just a bit gloomy in the social area and would suggest tealights on tables for the future.
All in all, I would recommend a visit - a small and friendly club that can only improve as time goes by.
