I would love to come, but unfortunately can't make it this month.
I will, however, make a mental note to look for a similar thread when the first Wednesday of November looms close.
If anyone has a good enough memory to remember to give me a nudge when said time comes round I'd be most grateful

Take one fresh Brad and prick all over with a fork, rub with the zest and juice of one lemon and set aside.
Cream together 3 large eggs with the same weight of butter and sugar. Fold in a equal weight of flour, then grate the marinated Brad into the bowl. Beat until the mixture has a uniform consistency.
roughly chop 4oz walnuts
4oz stem ginger and
4oz dried dates
add to the mixture and beat well
pour into a greased cake tin and bake in the centre of the oven (gas mark 6) for 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
