having made spacers, stainless steel pins and security extras for the cb3000 i had to get a 6000 to produce the range to fit.first ordered did not arrive. thwarted by the gpo i was london bound so called in onfettered pleasures who was on holiday , but the superb staff sold me one for £130. a ten second examination revealed two immediate finish defects. why spoil a good product by crap tooling. if only they removed the mould join marks from the backring. you need to pull your nail or tongue across the ring surface to find the sharp ridge, now remove with very fine sandpaper. there is a smaller one on the cage face. the new ring design really is a vast improvement on previous rings.......the assembly is simple but like the hinged ring it is a fantastically efficentstubble trapper. most cb wearers shave for this reason and easier cleaning. there is only one word for the revised cage design....brikkiant. no two words, its tight....the whole concept works by tightness so first off try the large ring, no spacers just the cage. thats the next snag it is not as adjustable as the previous design..fitting with the 3000 was a combination of ring size spacers and firmness of the apparatus. firmness was obtained by steel lock and guidepins ALL packed with spacers so there was no flexing ofring away from cage.fitting should consist of try large ring and cage alone, iff balls escape go down a ring size. and so on. the ksd can be fitted without altering setup of ring and spacers. the points i would suggest be fitted between ring and your body as will fit locating crescent under ring... for the 6000 the points will need a circular file to deepen the pin hole a long way......measure the depth to which points stik into space inside ring of 3000 and file until do exceed this within 6000 ring and file a bit deeper for comfort. the ksd can be filed down to fit inside the 6000 likewise BUT PLEASE FILE THE INSIDE DOWN to be parallelto the cage and also round the inside off to a taper expanding into the cage..my antiescape rings work even better inside the 6 than they do in the 3k.to remove the cage has to be rotated.wearing of the 6000 as many lightyears ahead of the 3000. far more comfortable. but why put the join of the half castings through the lockingpin hole ? its an obvious disaster. the material is too thin already, be ready to buy a new cage section next year. you cannot band this as per the curve design. it should have been made in thicker aeroplane canopy grade perspex. the curve was good and thick but i have seen one broken by a light tap from a crop handle.next the oval pin there to increase rigidity of the unit and to stop lock noise when moving. lock bounce also scratches the cage ....solution put the pin in from the front and the lock next to your body. rigidity after a few days slacks off as the pin beds in ie wears a bit. for maximum rigidity get stainless stell lock and guide pins and extra spacers to pack the guide pins solib. in one line its still the best for the price.
